I greatly appreciate the cards and flowers as well as the telephone calls and e-mails sent to me and my wife during my illness. They were greatly appreciated. My recovery is moving along miraculously. I greatly appre- ciate Dr. Joseph Watson and Dr. Zollinger. They are incredible! I have learned through experience that Madison Memorial Hospital is a great hospital. It is, in my opinion, the best in this part of Idaho. It de- serves much higher acclaim than it receives. Thank you to all who cared for me. It is no surprise to me that the City functioned so well during my ab- sence. We have an amazing group of people working for the City of Rexburg. I cannot praise them enough. There were no glitches, no things left undone. The City of Rexburg and its workers instill within me a sense of pride. It is not because of my leadership that I feel so, rather it is the workers themselves. I am proud to know them and associate with them. It is with sadness that I have just been informed at the time of this writ- ing, of the passing of Terrel Arnold. He was instrumental in making the Teton Flood Museum what it is today. His death diminishes the number of those heroes who served in World War II. He was a combat veteran and a valued member of this community. Part of his collection of his- torical photos graces the walls of Rexburg City Hall. We cherish them! We will miss his great knowledge of the past. We offer our condolences to his family Richard S. Dancing with the Rexburg Stars The Shop with a Cop program joins children who are in need with local law enforce- ment officers, providing the children with money to shop for Christmas presents for their families and themselves. The program is funded completely from donations. Underprivileged children who participate in the program are chosen by law enforce- ment officers. Children and officers will meet December 14 where they will travel together in a law enforcement vehicle, with lights and siren. First they enjoy a breakfast donated by McDonalds and then go to Kmart to shop. Not only do the children get a chance to purchase Christmas presents that they otherwise would not be able to buy, but they also get a chance to build a positive relationship with law enforcement. Donations to the program can be made at the Rexburg Police Department, 25 East Main Street, Rexburg, Idaho 83440, (208) 359-3008. After Thanksgiving, giving trees will also be set up throughout the community at area businesses where you can make a monetary donation or give a gift for a child. You can make a donation to Shop with a Cop at any time throughout the year. For additional information regarding Shop with a Cop you can visit our blog at http://rexburgshopwithacop.blogspot.com
