I have my seed catalog and am anxious about the future. Will corn be one ear for a dollar? Will tomatoes be as expensive as hamburg- er? It sure seems like a good year to plant a garden. These are uncertain times but the added security of “growing our own” can bring a sense of peace of mind and well-being to our families. I think most important is that we can work together as families and friends to our betterment. We can help our children learn the value of work, the value of food, the im- portance and even fun in joint family efforts. I have often given thanks to our Rexburg City workers, sometimes even making special mention of the different departments. This time I want to highlight our Sanitation Department. I think that they do a terrif- ic job. I have worked jobs like theirs and I honestly could not do what they do, day in day out. Starting work in the early morning hours, driving one hundred feet, picking up a container to drive another one hundred feet and picking up another container. Day after day, year after year, street after street, how do they do it? I commend them. I hold them in great esteem. I honor them. I thank them for doing a very important job. I hope that as you see them out on the streets that you’ll give them a wave of thanks. -Richard S. Woodland SPRING YARD WASTE CLEAN UP The proposed dates are April 8- May 20, 2012. Materials to be picked up must be out at the curb and not in the alleys or right next to garbage cans. We will try to pick up materials on your scheduled garbage pick up day. Please bag or bundle materials as much as possible so that they may be picked up by hand. If the City has to use heavy equipment to load trees, branches, etc. then you will be notified and you may be charged for the use of that equip- ment. Limbs & branches should be bundled and cut in 4' to 6' lengths.
