M. on January 17, 1968. Mayor A. i-I. Brock pre- siding. 'rhe following Councilmen e~rere present: Glenn Peterson; Dell Virgin; Dr. Barton Jensen; Henr~~ Shirley; John Porter - Councilman Gordon Smith was absent. Also present o-rere City Attorney f•?ary Smith Oldham and City Clerk Treasurer Beulah Johnson and Mr. John Haeberle of KoR,X.I<, Radio Station. RE: MINUTES: Minutes of the January 3, 1968 meeting o-rere read and a Motion was made by Councilman Glenn Peterson that the Minutes as read be approved; the Motion was secended by Councilman Dell Virgin and the N'Iotion carried„ RE: IdE',~d SECURITY OFFICERS: City Attorney N?arY Smith Oldham swore in Rex Caz~ps and George Le~ois as Ricks College Security Officiers. RE: REXBURG LUMBER COPiPt1NY: Nir, Gordon Thatcher representing the Rexburg Lumber Company applied for a building permit so that an extensive expanding operation could be started witizout delay. I~Ir. Thatcher explained the company°s plans for future growth. Councilman Glenn Peterson made a Niotion and Council- man De11 Virgin seconded the IvIotion that the Council grant the permit with the understanding that the construction and operation may be sub- ject to air pollution controls and restrictions, and that the company would assume all liability that such construction and application ' may but aid, as a nuisance, air pollution, and otherwise, and protect and hold the City harmless from all such liability, The Motion carried, RE: SIX-FLEX APA12TP1EN'I - FIRST .x1EST STREET: Mr. Marls Siepert presented plans for Mr, Thad Yost, Due to the fact that this area was in a Class A Residential Mr. Mark Siepert was informed that a special hearing would be held. If there we!-e ne objections, the zoning would be changed to Residential B and that Multiple Dwellings could be constructed. RE: MIGHTY MITE BEER LICENSE: An application for a beer license to sell bottled and canned beer for the I~?ighty Mite was made and a Motion was made by Councilman Barton Jensen and seconded by Councilman John Porter that the beer license be approved. The Motion carried. RE: LIABILITY INSURANCE BIDS: There were two bids for liability insurance for the City of Re:Yburg submitted and these two bids were opened for inspection by the Council. Farmers Insurance Company - bid - b2,095.00 Arnold Insurance Company - bid - 1,835.00 The low bid was made by the Firnold Insurance Company and a I'~oton was ,,? made by Councilman Barton Jensen and seconded by ,Councilman Glehn' Peterson that the bid as submitted by Arnold Insurance Company be accepted. The Motion carried. RE: RESOLUTION FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL ON MAI14 & CENTER STREETS: Mayor A. H. Brock introduced a Resolution on a cooperative traffic signal agreement for the in~rsection of Main Street and Center Street. R E S O L U T I O N UdHEREAS, the Department of Highways of the State of Idaho has submitted a Cooperative Traffic Signal Agreement stating obligatior?s of the State and the City of Rexburg for the replacement of an existing signal installation located in the City Limits and to be constructed under State Project STS-0471 (535). NOW ^iHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1.- ghat the Cooperative Traffic Signal Agreement for the M 3"?.JJ S.~ approved. 2, That the P'"iayor and the CiL-y Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the Agreement on behalf of the City of Rexburg. 3. l~hat duly certified copies of the Resolution shall be furnished to the Department of Highways. CERTIFICATION I hereby certify that the above is a true copy of a Resolution passed at a regular, duly called meeting of the City of Rexburg, Idaho held on January 17,1968~."1ll /~ J --3eulah Jai~n~"q'n,City Clerlc ( ~, ~` A Motion was made by Councilman John Porter and seconded by Councilman Glenn Peterson to adopt the Rc-solution for Traffic signals on Main and Center Streets. those voting were: Councilman Glenn Peterson "AYE" Dell Virgin "AYE" Barton Jensen "AYE" Henry Shirley ",'AYE" John Porter "AYE" ~Ihere were no NAY votes, RE: NE~,~1 LOCATION NEEDED FOR GARBAGE DISPOSAL: A discussion folloaring a letter from the State Sanitation Department advising the City on the need of a ne~•~ location for the City's garbage- : pit arose, RE: BILLS: Eiils in the amount of 57561,04 were read of which 54529.4-_ was for payroll salaries. A Motion was made by Councilman Henry Shirley and seconded by Councilman John Porte-r that the bills as read be allowed. the Motion carried. RE: ADJUSTI°?EN^i ON GARNER: Modification on the Garner Addition was read and after discussion, it was turned over to Councilman John Porter for adjustment to be made to Mr. Garner on an overcharge. 'The Meeting adjourned at 10:30 P. M.
