Smith said he would have additional informa- tion and suge_estions for the next Council meeting. RE; Srnith reports plans for Porter park: Gordon Smith reported that he planned to I;ut two men to work on the Porter Park this spring in order to fix up the Southwest end as well as do the other necessatyy work. The matter of toping and removing dead trees from the park was discussed. RE: Withers reports contacts made with roto-rooter: David blithers stated he had contacted the man in Idaho Fa11s who had the roto-rooter for the seweas and was to furnish him information pertaining to the size of the sewer lines ect., so he would give ~Ir. Withers an estimate as to the cost of cleaning the lines, The Mayor asked the i•Yr. Withers check into the cost of such enuipment and if it would be cheaper for the city to buy the same or rent it. The matter was dis- cussed and Mr. Withers stated he would make further investigation and report. RE: Raised discussed for city employees: The matter of raises for City Employees was discussed and the ifayor suggested the Councilmen secure from trlrs. Rigby the salary list and if they had any suggested raises to put them in the budget request. RE: The matter of the City Dump was discussed. RE: Through-street impossible: Glen Peterson reported that he had been asked about securing a through-street from Second East into 3rd and 4th Bast. Mr. Shumate stated it would be impossible, as he had an easement there for underground wires for Radio Station KRXK. RE: Cost of tranquilizer guns & pellet report: Glen Peterson reported that the tranquilizer gun and pellets for dogs would cost ?200. He also reported. on methods that Rigby- and St. Anthony used in taking care of dogs running at large. The matters was discussed, and it was decided to envesti- ~ate further. RE: Police salary discussed: Councilmen Peterson also brought up the matter of sa7Aries for the policemen, the matter was discussed and the Mayor suggested that any proposed raises be submitted in the budget for his department. Councilmen Peterson also stated that he thought it would be a good policy to have several applications for jobs as policemen on £ile so that in the event of necessity such applicants could be contacted immediately. RE: Decessary to hold public hearing to fix the levy of taxes: The Mayor stated it was necessary to hold a public hearing to consider and fix the levy of taxes for general revenue purposes not to exceed 25 mills on the dollar for 1964. The hearing was fixed for March 4, 1964, at 8:00 orclock P.iK. and the Cleric insturcted to publish notice of the hearing in two issued of.' the paper. RE: Date for hearing on Fremont Dam & Reservoir: The Mayor stated that the Senate Committee hearing on the Fremont Dam & Reservoir had been set for March 4, 1964, and present' a Resolution to be passed by the City Council urging that the Senate Committee recommend the passage of the bills for the authorization and construction of the dam reservoir. It was moved by A.H• Brock, seconded by Glen Peterson that tsaid Resolution be passed, 1ir.snt.Trmmru WHEREAS, bills have been submitted to the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives for the construction of the Lower Teton Reclamation Project, including the Fremont Dam and Reservoir, and WHEREAS, the sane has been set for Senate Committe.,.hearings in Washington, D.C• and b6]ERE;S, the: digAstdsOUsr"loods this area has experienced in prior years and the drouth area in the same ,year, which clearly demonstazates the vital importance and urgency of this project for flood control and supplemental water purposes, AND ~+IHEftEAS, there has never been any opposition to said project at any hearing per- taming to the same, and at all hearings it has berm unanimously endorsed and approved. NOW, THEREFOR, BE IT RESOLVED: That said Senate Committee recommen the immediate passage of said bills authorizing the construction of said Fremont Dam & Reservoir. DIOTICE OF PUBLIC HEAR7I~G NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Rexburg, Idaho, will hold a public hearing, at the City Hall, Rexburg, Idaho, March 4, 1964, at 8:00 P.I~I. to consider and fix the levy of taxes for general revenue purposes not to exceed twenty- five mills on the dollar for the year 1964, on all property within the limits of the City of Rexburg, Madison County, Idaho, taxable according to the laws of the State of Idaho, the valuation of such proper°ty to be ascertained from the books or assess- ment rolls o£ Madison County, Idaho. This public hearing is granted by the City Council of the City of Rexburg, Idaho, pursuant to Section 58-1102, Zdaho Code, before the appropriation bill provided in Section 0-1915, is passed.
