PRO?OSAL
WIfEREAS: It is the opinion of the sponsors of this
proposal that Rexburg is a groW!ng city G~rith a tier,}=
optimistic fut~.re and can expect, to have considerable
growth in the near future, and
Yli3E-SAS: There is now considerable construction under
~.,~ay and various additions car, be expectedcito the city
of Rexburg, and
'riNEREAS: There is definite need for close supervision ar.d
planning by the ci't;j of Rexburg regarding new constructiion
and expansion, now,
THIREFOR.L BE IT RESOLVED: That the Git, Council
have prepared and presented and enacted into law a
satisfactory and. acceptab=-e sub-division nrdiriance
protecting the city and future property owners against
unsatisfactory., inadequate and incomplete sub-dividing
of anti potion cf the City of Rexburg or future addition
thereto, and also,
BT; IT tIESOLVr3D: That the Ci't,y Council immediately enact
an amendment to the present building code that :gill
prohibit a building permit for ne!~r construction being
issued until curb: lines have been established, proper
drainage of the property has been assured and all
vreather accessible streets are guaranted ~.rith in a
reasonable length of time(60 days)

Charles rr1. Zollinger reported bids had been recei~red qn i,he divaing {'or ?rater line
replacement from ls't East to 2nd ~rJest street. I3e stated Harvey Walters was the low
bidder and was going right along with the !~rorlt. Th ;~ plas;ned to have t1.e pipe laid-
in about 10 days,
RE: Gravel Used I'cr City Purroses Onl,;~:
A motion was made by A. L. Klingler seconded by P.. H. Erock and unanimously airried that
it be the policy of this adHinistration, and recommended to succeeding adminins~trations
that, the gravel land property pure!?aced by the city from 91ex Leatham be user', by the
city of Rexburg only by its street department for public purposes, and that the sale
thereof be denied to private individua_ts and con.tractprs. That it is not the intention
of the cit~;~±e be in the ;;ravel buisnass of complete =;:ith any private individuals or
f isms.
RE: itlingler Lights to be Used to Better Advantage:
A. L. Klirgler repo'ted there are so rie lights that can be removed ix? the colle.re area
because the college has their o~,m lighting system ~.vhich i.s ads^uate. He suggested the
lights be placed in other areas where street lip°hts are needed.

and that ho be hereby authorized to make such sale and to receive 'the proceeds
therefroan and deposit them to the. credit of said City.

It was moved by Laurn AshLman, and seconded b;~ John C. Porter that such Resolution
be adopted, and the proper officers directed to proceed acoordingly, and that the
Resolution he spread on the minutes. Upon call for question, the vote was taken
as; For 5, Against 0. ;•Jhereuoon the Nlayor declared the Resolution duly adopted and
directed that the r?roper papers be executed and that the :•tayor proceed to ne-otiate
