The Mayor informed the delegation that it eras not the intention of the Council to violate the ordinance and any changes vrould have to be in orderly process of law. The Mayor directed that the petitions be Filed and made a cart of the minutes. RE: Suggested Emergency ;4ater Line to College Boiler. Councilman Porter reported that Nir. Perry thought the College should have ail emer- gency vrater line`to its boiler, and that if the City did not feel it could put in a tyro inci~ line at this time on First PJest, that the College could bring an emergency line from the last house on the street. The Council after discussion, did not feel that they could enlarge the present one inch line at this time. RE; Highway Dept. wants stop light at Center and i4ain. The Mayor reported that just a short time before the meeting he had received a call From the. highway department in Boise and they tiranted to do something about a modern stop light at the intersection of Center and Nfain streets, that the,}* ha.d funds available for their share and the final planning was being completed, that it was a ~~6,000.00 installa- tion and tirould cost the city half of that amount. The 14ayor told them that he couldn't authorise such a project without taking it up with the Council. The matter was discussed. The Council was of the opinion that the pity could not participate in such a program at the present time. RE:~ ar~aterworks Proposed Eudget for 1463 Councilman Zollinger reported that he had received Bud Arrnstronp,'s proposed budget for 19b3, that Bud felt like the members of his department should receive a raise. The matter was discussed. RE: Special Meeting: The Mayor reported it might be necessary to have a special meeting pertaining to the sewer project. RE: Special Meeting Regarding Sewage Fond. The Mayor reported he was to meet Thursday night with the Airport Board and County Commissioners and ±rould like a.s many Councilmen present as possible, the purpose being to discuss the airport in relation to the settling pond. RE: Need to Appoint Manager for Swimming Pool. The Mayor reported he had met with the Swimming Pool Board, that Fhil A11sen was takiurg a leave of absence and it would be necessary to get someone else to operate the pool this coming season. RE: Engineers requested`to put the clearing for the settling pdndon a separate contract. The'Mayor reported fie had requested the Engineers to put the clearing for the settles ing`'pond on a separate contract, as we had equipment available in this territory to take care of it. RE: Councilman Charles W. Zollinger Appointed to Planning Board. Mayor Larsen stated he would like to appoint Councilman Zollinger as the City's member on the plaaining board. The Council auanimously confirmed the appointment. The Following resolution was presented by Councilman :Porter who ..moved its adoption: RESOLUTION 'BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the City of Rexburg, as sponsors of the Flood Control work on the South Fork of Teton River near Rexburg, Idaho, enter into an:;;agrsement with the Union Pacific Railroad Company giving the Army Engi- neers, the right to erect levies, embankments, ect. and to repair and main- tain the same and that the city assume all responsibility and liability there- for, and the Mayor and City Clerk be, and they are hereby authorized and instructed to sign such agreement. " The motion was duly seconded and unanimously carried. RE~ Claims. Councilman ~shliman presented bills in the amount of ;6b221;99 and moved their apprc- val and that the same be paid.
