HomeMy WebLinkAbout1917, July 23 Proportion of the Cost of Building The Mayor announced that the meeting was held for the purpose; among other things; of hearing protests against the creation of Local Improvement District for the improvement of Main Street and part of 3rd East Street as said meeting was fixed by Resolution No. 11 of the city council passed July 11,1917. Praof of publication consisting of the affidavit of W. Lloyd Adams, publisher of the Rexburg Standard, was read by the City Clerk showing publication of Resolution No.. 11 aforesaid for two consecutive issues of the official paper, first publication having been made on the 11th day of July, 1917, and the last publication having been made on the 19th day of July, 1917. Moved by Archibald, seconded by Porter that the said proof of publication with printed copy of resolution attached be ordered filed with the city Clerk as of the hour of reception therecf, to wit, five o`clock P. Ni. J~:vly 21;1917. Motion carried. Six yeas, no nays. The Glerk announced that wri`ten remonstrances or protests against. the proposed improvement of Maih Street and 3rd East Street ao declared to Protest of be the intention of the City Council expressed in Resolution No. 11 J.M.Gook and others. aforesaid, had been received from J. N~ Cook and J. A. Sorensen. Thereupon the Mayor and Council considered said protests against said improvement. Moved by Archibald, seconded by Porter that the said remonstrancee of J. M. Cook and J. A. Sorensen against the proposed creation of local improvement district for the purpose of street improvements on Main Street and 3rd East Street be filed with the Clerk. Motion carried. Sis yeas, no nays. Thereupon the council proceeded to consider the protests of said Cook and Sorensen against the said street improvements and the matter was discussed when it was moved by Porter, seconded by Flamm tl!at the remonstrances clad protects of the saicl Gock and Sorensen be not allovaed to prevail and that the same be overruled as insufficient and without force in the premises, it appearing that the necessary number of property owners in said district are in favor of the creation of said district as pacposed and the making of said improvements. Roll call: Archibald; yea; Flamm, yea; Harris, yea; winter; yea; Wright, yea; Forter yea. Six yeas, no nays, motion carried. Thereupon the council considered the matter of creating the improvement district described in Resolution No. 11 heretofore passed by the said council at the meetin- of July 11 and it appearing that it fo for the best interests of Creation Local Imp. the said city and the residents of said improvement district that the Dist.No.1Q. improvements described in said Resolution No. 11 are necessary and will greatly benefit the city at large, it was moved by Flamm, seconded by Harris, that e Local Improvement District No. 10 be created for the purposes as deac~~bed in said resolutian of Intention No. 11; passed by the Gity Council on the 11th day of July, 1917, and that an ordinance be drawn by the city attorney creating; the said improvement district, and that the same be presented for the consic9eration of the con?1ci1 at its next regular meeting August lst,1917.
