RE: TRUCK WEIGHT DAMAGING CITY STREETS
TOPIC: (20,151,,,TRUCKS,STREET DAMAGE,STREETS,STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT)
The maycrtold the council he had a call from a citizen. He complained
that some trucks that have been coming out of the school property were
very grossly over weight. He told the mayor those trucks driving over
our roads and going down 2nd North will do more damage than twenty
thousand cars. The fellow that called works for the State and runs the
weigh stations. He said he could look at a truck and tell you when it
ie over weight. If those trucks were on the state highway they would
have a big fine. If we request the state to come into Rexburg and do
spot checks, they will do it. (discussion Stephen stated that the
State Statute governs the load limits) A motion was made by Glen Pond
to proceed and have Stephen write a letter to the state asking them to
spot check trucks in the city. Seconded by Bruce Sutherland. All Aye
