RE: DISCUSSION OF MEETING WITH THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
TOPIC: (20,57,,, COUNTY COMMISSIONERS,JAIL,ULTIMATE DIRECTIONS,
MIYASAKI HALL)
The mayor asked the council if they wanted to meet with the County
Commissioners. There is a combination of things that are causing
problems one being the annexation of the Salem Road. We do not plan to
annex it but they want us to annex it and maintain it.
Nyle suggested that Ultimate Direction wanted us to pay for the moving
of their sign, but they don't have a sign out there.
Farrell stated that we need to try to maintain good relationship with
the County Commissioners if a meeting would help do that.
The mayor stated the one thing we need to keep up on is the jail. Nyle
met with them and finally at the last meeting they said yes it would be
better if the city were gone. Why didn't someone say that two years
ago, so we wouldn't suddenly be under the gun to do something. They
are willing to buy the building on their terms. We haven't had a firm
offer. They need to tell us what they want to do.
The mayor said Steve Zollinger got in touch with the fellow in Seattle
about Miyasaki Hall and it is not surplus now but might be in
- December. But even then they would not give it away for two years, but
he said if it was listed surplus they would probably let us move into
it. They also have other applications besides our.
A copy of the Attorney Proposal was given to the council to review.
Those attending felt good about it.
Meeting adjourned.
