RE: RICKS COLLEGE CLASS MAKES PRESENTATION ON THE A.D.A. COMPLIANCE AT THE TABERNACLE Ricks College Interior Design Class attended the meeting to make a presentation on the A.D.A. compliance at the tabernacle. (handout was given to the council, copy attached) As Interior Design Group the two year students have an opportunity to look for an area in the community for a project. They have gone through the community to find a building that needed to comply with the A.D.A. and they selected to look at the tabernacle. The reason they selected the tabernacle is many functions and meetings are held in the building. All public buildings need to be Handicapped Accessible by 1995. This group came up with several options and estimates which are included on the handout. The options are divided into three different categories and three different groups showed plans and explained each plan and idea. As the group had talked to different members in the community, all of them told them of different memories they have had in the tabernacle. It has a strong sentimental value to the community. They had talked to an architect on some costs to come up with another civic center of that same square footage that could preform the same function in the community and they had estimated that cost for just the outside structure without any of the interior finishings would be about one million five hundred dollars. They discussed a plan to have a program "Adopt A Bench" where people would be responsible to pay to have a bench refinished and padded and have their name put on a plaque. Mayor Boyle thanked the group for coming and the job they had done. RE: REPORT FROM THE BIKE PATH MEETING The mayor reported on the Bike Path Meeting. They reviewed all the different options. They will have another meeting and decide on the options and apply for a grant. The grant has to be in by April 5 and they talked to the people in Boise and they talked like we would have a chance in getting around $250,000 and $750,000 to start on this. The grant would be awarded for the year 1995. ~-' J 1 The mayor reported that the Employee Advisory Committee met and he would make sure all the council got copies of the minutes. A motion was made by Jim Flamm and seconded by Glen Pond to approve the minutes. All Aye Meeting adjourned. Mayor, Nile L.
