The college ask the mayor to clarify the letter. Farrell Davidson was in there and stated that they could isolate the red tagged apartment which was a potential danger. Mack Shirley stated that their main concern is the students. Glen Pond stated one of his concerns was the parking. It needs to be finished and stripped with fire equipment access. He is concerned with the issue of safety that was explained in the letter. The purpose of the letter was to limit the City Liability. Ricks Page- The college cannot issue a seal of approval without a certificate of occupancy. In addition to the city requirements, the college has requirements. We are now awaiting a State Electrical Report. The future of the Cottage Apartments will depend on the certificate of occupancy and compliance with the college before November 30. Rick Page told the students baring any eminent danger they would allow the students to stay in the apartments until the end of the year. The students ask if they could sell their contracts. Ricks told him we would treat them the same as any other students. If the city says they have to leave, the college would help the students relocate. The students ask why they was not notified that the apartments were not ready. The college told them that Steve Clark was suppose to notify them. They also ask the college why they were told it was approved, The college gave a conditional approval only. The students ask if it would be hard to sell contracts. They didn't think it was right to not get reimbursed for money paid in. They stated that they had been living in unsafe conditions. The college recommended the situation be reviewed by the housing arbitration board. They had been living in a level of inconvenience. Mr Clark had told them everything is safe. The students ask if they should pay the balance. Mr Page said he could not tell them or advise them. They stated that from a legal standpoint they were entitled to move out and get their money back. Mr Page told them to come in to housing and fill out a form. Mr Price stated that if the college were to tell everyone to move out of the apartments there would be no place for them to go. If a contract is violated, the law could tell Mr Clark to pay it, but he probably can't find the money. A student ask what happens if we want our money and he has no money to pay. On the contract it says it has to be habitable. The students said when they called to see if the apartments were ready, they told us they were ready and said nothing was wrong, and it isn't honest.
