Present were the following: Mayor: John C Porter Councilman: Glen Pond Sander Larson Jim Morris Morgan Garner Nile Boyle Councilwoman: Darlene Blackburn A motion was made by Darlene Blackburn and seconded by Jim Morris to approve the minutes. All Aye. Mayor Porter opened the bids for a Police Car. Town & Country Motors - $12,134.33 for a Plymouth Grand Furry. Taylor Chevrolet - $12,870.00 for a Chevrolet. The apparent low bid is Town and Country Motors, the mayor suggested that the council turn it over to the police committee to check out the specifications. RE: REPRESE(~TATIVE OF ID~AHQ.FEDERATION OF ;nE BsI e~ day representing the Idaho Federation of the Blind. They want to put in a coin operated vending machine in the City Hall. The money earned from this would go to the Federation of the Blind. The council thought it would be okay. • APOLOGY FROM COLLEGE STUDENTS ome co ege stu ents, ei u mer, Kevin Leach, Peter Curran was at the council to apologize for stealing a stop sign. The mayor told them that there was a danger in taking a stop sign because someone could get killed in an accident because they did not know they needed to stop. The council thanked them for coming in. RE• PARKING AT GOLF COURSE DURING SUMMER Jim Morris told the council that he thought there might be a problem with the cars from INEL parking at the golf course in the summer. They have 12 to 14 cars and that would be too many. The mayor said there is also another area in Rexburg by the Third Ward Church on 3rd West. The people over this have been complaining about them parking over there and the snow plows not being able to plow the snow. The council felt that the Railroad parking lot would be the best. The mayor said he would talk to Blair and have him talk to the INEL people. The council discussed Liability Insurance. RE: DISCUSSLON OF 4 WAY STOP SIGN They discussed the 4 way stop by the pumphouse. The mayor said he uses it everyday and didn't see any problem, people can stop and start okay. He said he had observed at the 4 way stop signs, we don't have any accidents at those corners. Morgan Garner suggest- ed that we leave it there for a year and see what it does. The council felt the street department was doing a good job urith the sanding of the streets, and discussed the snow removal. RE• MODIFIED FAIR LABOR STANDARD ACT_ The mayor told the council that the Congress had modified. the Fair Labor Standard Act and the president had signed the bill. This modification makes so we can use comp time and could accumulate it. The council discussed it and felt the program is work- ing well and we should leave it like it is for the present time. The mayor said the only one that probably might have overtime would be the one on the sanding truck or maybe those on snow removal. The council discussed getting all the police of the day. RFC RFFR LICENSE APPROVED FOR OSCO__DRUG The mayor read a Beer License for Osco Drug. ded by Glen Pond. A motion was made by Nile the license.
