STRUCTURAL NOTES
1. All footings shall bear on undisturbed soil or engineered fill.
2. All concrete not otherwise specified shall be stone or g avel p concrete to

test 3000 psi at 28 days (see specs) when tested according to standard
ASTM compression tests.
3. All compression test results to be evaluated according. to ACI Standard
Recommended Practice for Evaluation of Compression Test Results of Field
Concrete (ACI 315).
4. All detailing, fabrication and erection of reinforcing bars must conform
to the ACI Manual of Standard Practice for Detailing Reinforced Concrete
Structures (ACI 31
5. All bars are to be supported in the form and spaced with wire bar supports
conforming to the requirements of the ACI Manual of Standard Practive for
Detailing Reinforced Concrete Structures (ACI 315-65). Reinforcing bars
in footings shall be supported on precast concrete block bar supports con -
fo rming to Concrete Reinforcing Steel institute Manual of Standard Practice

6. Minimum concrete cover for reinforcing bars shall be 3" for footings, 2"
for concrete exposed to earth (forred), 1-112" fpr beam and columns, 314
for slabs or as called for on the drawings.
7. Splices of reinforcement at points of maximum stress shall be avoided where-
ever possible. Mlinimurn overlap for a lapped splice shall be 30 bar diameters
unless noted. Reinforcing bars shall be ASTM A-615 Grade 40 deformed (ex-
cept #2). All welded wire fabric to conform to ASTM A-185. _.
8. All continuous reinforcement shall terminate with 90 degrees return oz hook
,or a separate corner bar.
9. All vertical reinforcement in columns or walls shall be dowelled from the
footings or structure below with rebar of the sam size and spacing as re-
quired above
10. Provide a min 2" x 4" by continuous beveled key atop footings at walls.
11. Unless detai d otherwise provide extra reinforcement around openings in
concrete wall Head 1 #5 x width + 3' -0" for each 5" thickness of wall
Jamb and sill: 1 #4 x width + 3' -0" as perTaitted.
12. No aluminum products shall be embedded in concrete. Electrical conduits
shall be placed in rdd-height of slabs and shall have an od less than one-
third of slab thickness.
13. All construction joints shall be located so as not to impair the strength
of the structure unless noted on the drawings all reinforcement shall be
continuous through joints. Each construction joint shall be keyed.
