HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977.08.31 CITY COUNCIL MINUTES6~ SPECIAL MEETING AUG. 31, 1977 6:30 pm State of Idaho) County of Madison (SS City of Rexburg) A special meeting of the City Council for the City of Rexburg, Idaho, Madison County, was held on August 31,1977, 6:30 P. M. at City Hall. Present were the following: Mayor: John C. Porter Councilmen: Nile Boyle Warren Porter Barton Jensen Councilwoman: Darlene Blackburn Absent: Norman Holman Morgan Garner Also Present: Mary Smith, City Attorney Afton Anderson, City Clerk Leland Thompson, Public Works Administrator RE: WORKSHOP ON BUDGET Blair Siepert presented his budget proposal for the Police Department. He asked for 2 additional officers and a juvenile officer. Mayor Porter asked that he with just the junivenile officer and wait until next year for the additional patrolmen. Chief Siepert requested an 8o cost of living raise. Leland explained his pay range allocations program. His pay scale would give 4~ raises at designated intervals plus a regualr cost of living raise at the budget time each year. This would give the employees raises for seniority. Councilman Warren Porter moved we accept the proposed classification scale. The City attorney asked the council to raise the pay for their law firm. The work load has increased drastically. It was agreet to pay the firm $14,000.00 per year. 1 RE: DISCUSSION ADDITIONAL BUILDING INSPECTOR RE: NEIL CLEMENTS REPORTS ON SEWER LINE THAT GOES UNDER MOTEL Niel Clements reported on a sewer line that presently goes under the motel. The engineers have agreed that a by pass would cause problems as it is a flat line without enough drop. They agreed that manholes should be put in at each side of the building for clean up. A legal agreement will be drawn up and signed that if problems arise, the City will then put in a by pass. All Agreed RE: M~YBH GIVES VIEW ON RAISE Mayor stated that he felt the new raises should start Oct. 1 with the new budget but that they shouldn't be,highe~ than 7~.
