All Aye , RE: RE: RE: BID OPENING FOR SPRINKLERS FOR THE NEW PARK The bid opening was held on the sprinklers for the new park. Early Bird Sprinklers were the low bidder. Bengal Electric of Idaho Falls were the low bidders on the wiring. The bids for the restrooms were Intermountain Construction $37,900.00 and Zollinger Construction, $40,000.00. Intermountain Construction was low bidder and has started work. TABERNACLE PROPERTY Discussion on the tabernacle property. Mayor had accepted the cities offer to purchase the stake office building property. The property by the parks department. State of Idaho) County of Madison (SS City of Rexburg) A meeting of the City Council for the City of Rexburg, Idaho, Madison County, was held on Wednesday, the 1st of June at the hour of 7:30 P. M, at the City Hall. Present were the following: Mayor: Councilman: Councilwoman: Also Present: Absent: RE: LID REQUESTS HAVE BEEN TURNED IN John C. Porter Norman Holman Barton Jensen Morgan Garner Nile Boyle Darlene Blackburn Mary Smith, City Attorney Afton Anderson, City Clerk Warren Porter, Councilman L Mayor Porter reported that all the LID requests have been turned in now and they are starting the preliminary work immediately. The City Attorney will get with the engineer tomorrow. ~~ COMPLAINT ON ENTRANCE TO PORTERS AND JOHNSON DRUG PARKING LOT Mayor Porter received a letter from Mr. Lynn Davenport requesting that something be done with the entrance to the Porters and Johnson Drug parking lot. Mayor Porter said it was painted wrong but will be corrected before there are further accidents there. DISCUSSION ON SIGNS Discussion. Signs. In some areas the street department has put the signs too close. Will correct. KENT ARCHIBALD ALLOWED TO LEAVE TRAILER IN PROFESSIONAL PLAZA UNTIL BUILDING FINISHED Mayor Porter read a letter from Kent Archibald. He may not be able to get his trailer moved out of the Professional Plaza by June 5th. He has purchased'a lot and will start construction in 30 days. He requests permission to leave his trailer there until the building is completed. Councilman Barton Jensen moved he be allowed to leave the trailer there until the building is finished. Councilman Morgan Garner seconded. All Aye 1919 FIRE TRUCK TO BE SOLD Mayor Porter reported that he has received an offer of $500 for the old 1919 fire truck that went through the flood. Dr. Dean Smart wants to buy it and fix it up. Councilman Nile Boyle moved that the fire truck be sold. Councilman Morgan Garner seconded. All Aye ROBERT CURETON PRESENTS PLANS FOR APARTMENT COMPLEX FOR MARRIED STUDENTS Robert Cureton with property at 156 South 1st West has presented his plans to the planning board to build an apartment complex for married students. The planning board recommended no more than 11 units be built there on a lot that small. Councilman Nile Boyle moved we proceed with the hearing to change to R-3 zone. Councilwoman Darlene Blackburn seconded. All. Aye APPRECIATION DAY REPORT Councilman Barton Jensen reported on Appreciation Day. PROTEST ON MARIAN NELSON BUILDING Merle Fisher and Garth Holman present to protest the building of the steel building on residential property by Marian Nelson. Mr. Nelson has been told by the building inspector that he is in violation. He goes right on building and the neighbors want the building removed. The council all agreed that he could not put a commercial building there and will be informed that he must remove the present structure. ENGINEER REPORTS ON FLOOD RELATED PROJECTS Larry Perkins, of Forsgren & Perkins reported on the flood related projects. Necessary work to be done. COATING STREETS DISCUSSED Discussion on which streets to coat and whether to use Kelsinite or a seal coat. REPORT ON ERDA MEETING Mayor Porter reported that he had attended an ERDA meeting. They want to drill a geothermal well to see if they can reach water hot enough to use for heating. Councilman Morgan Garner moved that they be allowed to drill the well for the city. Councilman Norman Holman seconded. All Aye ~"¢ RE: WELLS TO BE MONITORED, ENGINEERS TO BE AT EVERY OTHER COUNCIL MEETINGS Larry Perkins, Engineer recommended monitoring the depths of the City wells so that we would know if there are any changes in them. All council members agree. It was also agreed that one of the engineers should be at every other council meeting to report on projects.
