ARE: CORDON SMITH ASKS FOR REDUCTION

Gordon Smith asked the Council to reduce the charge for his street on
LID 22. He stated that street was only 35 foot wide. Councilman Barton
Jensen moved that in as much as this has been discussed before, we wait
until after the budget is set to see how we stand. Councilman Nile
Boyle seconded.

HARVARD AVENUE
Councilman Nile Boyle moved that we include Harvard Avenue on the LID,
not charging water and sewer on the corner lots. The city will pay for
the corner lots and half on the paving. Councilman Darlene Blackburn
seconded.

IRE: APPOINTMENTS TO AIRPORT BOARD
Councilman Barton Jensen moved the following appointments be made to
the airport board. Gary Ball, I yr., Arthur Porter appointed member
by City and County 2 yr, Jim Meikle, 3 yrs. Councilman Nile Boyle
seconded.

fRE: APPOINTMENTS MADE ON CITY PLANNING BOARD
Councilman Barton Jensen moved the following appointments be made on
the City Planning Board. Alice Tout and Ann Weber are reappointed.
Councilman Warren Porter seconded.

~E: LETTER NOTIFYING CITY OF SUIT
Mayor Porter read a letter notifying the City of a suit being filed
against them. City Attorney, Mary Smith will write them a letter
denying the Cities liability.
There being no further business or written or oral protests to come
before the meeting, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried
that the meeting adjourn.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL
MEETING OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Rexburg, Madison
County, State of Idaho, was called to order by Mayor John C. Porter,
at 7:30 P. M. on February 4, 1976.

WATER PROJECT HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED ON TIME
Mayor Porter reported that the water project has not been completed on
time. Darrel Wasden has asked for an extention. The engineers feel
he is justified in asking for the extention. There has been a problem
in the electrical part of the project. Councilman Nile Boyle moved
they be granted the extention. Councilman Barton Jensen seconded.

BUDGET
Mayor Porter reported that the work is being done on the budget.
There will be a special meeting next week, Wed. Feb. II to work on
the budget. The department heads will be here to present their budgets,
then the meeting next week can be taken up with the cutting of
budgets, where needed to meet the revenues expected.
POLICE BUDGET PRESENTED
Blair Siepert, Chief of Police, presented his budget with a proposal
of $204,900.72. He has asked for a full-time police officer in addition
to the ones he has now. He also wishes to put three more dispatchers
on a monthly salary, with benefits, instead of an hourly wage. He feels
this will give them an .incentive to stay. He also asked the council to
consider longivity in the vacation time.
FIRE BUDGET
Gary Owens, Firechief, presented his budget with a total of $81,643.16.
WATER BUDGET
Jerry Brian, Superintendent of the Water Department presented a budget
request of $162,311.00. This included all the regular proposals and
a request for a 4 wheel drive pickup.
IRE: STREET BUDGET
ARE: SWIM POOL & Recreation
Dan Moulton, Superintendent of the Street Department presented a list
of equipment needed by the street department. Discussion on a street
sweeper needed, a snow blower, and trucks. Street sweeper can wait
another year for the snow equipment. Councilman Barton Jensen moved
we purchase 2 trucks, budgeting $18,000, this year and $18,000 next
year. Councilman Morgan Garner seconded.

Robert Gentry presented his proposal for the recreation and swim pool.
Councilman Warren Porter moved the meeting be adjourned. Councilman
Nile Boyle seconded.
