All Aye MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO State of Idaho) County of Madison(SS City of Rexburg) A regular meeting of the City Council for the City of Rexburg, Madison County was held October 2, 1974, at the hour of 7:30 P.M. at the City Hall being at which meeting there were present and answering roll call the following, who constituted a quorum: Mayor: Absent Presiding in the absences of the Mayor, Councilman Barton Jensen Councilman: Nile Boyle George Catmull Warren Porter Glenn Peterson Absent: Morgan Garner Also Present: Mary Smith, City Attorney Afton Anderson, City Clerk RE: MINUTES APPROVED Minutes of the previous meeting were read and discussed. Glenn Peterson moved the minutes be approved as corrected. Councilman Warren Porter seconded. All Aye. RE: COMPLAINTS ON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS DRAGGING DOWN STREETS AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED it was brought to the attention of the Councif that there are a lot of complaints from citizens living near the new highschool. The students are leaving the school parking lots and dragging down the streets at a high rate of speed. Councilman Nile Boyle suggested asking the police to patrol this area after school is let out to cut down on the speeding. Councilman Barton Jensen will call Captain Main about the matter. RE: BEER LICENSES APPROVED Beer licenses were presented for approval from Mighty Mite Groceries, Johnson Grocery, and the B. J. Bar. Licenses for the Mighty Mite and Johnson Groceries were approved. Councilman Glenn Peterson moved the licenses be issued. Councilman Nile Boyle seconded. All Aye. The licenses for the B. J. must be checked out. Councilman Glenn Peterson moved we .turn over to the attorney so that she can check out the City ordinances; and if they comply with the ordinance, then issue license. Councilman Nile Boyle seconded. All Aye RE: WASHINGTON SCHOOL PTA ASKS FOR CROSSWALK PATROLMAN Boyd Cordon and Allen Peterson, representing the Washington School PTA, asked the Council for a crosswalk patrolman. They felt it was necessary to have a patrolman, morning, noon, and night and the crosswalk across main street. The parents and teachers are very concerned. They also felt there was a problem on 1st North where the students cross to go over to the Twin Pines area. Councilman Barton Jensen assured them that the City is prepared to pay for a patrolman there, as soon as we can find someone. He mentioned that the pay had been approximately $5.00 per day last year and probably the same now. Councilman Glenn Peterson proposed that the City find a patrolman for this crosswalk, to work approximately 2 hours per day. Councilman George Catmull seconded. All Aye RE: DRAINS THAT REINHART PUT IN ON 2nd South and 2nd East UNSATISFACTORY Councilman Barton Jensen brought up that the drains that Reinhart has put in on 2nd South and 2nd East are very unsatisfactory. They will not drain as they are running up hill. He suggested Reinhart be made to fix these before they are paid. All Aye RE: BILLS APPROVED Councilman Nile Boyle moved the bills be okayed for payment in the amount of $19,942.23. Councilman Warren Porter seconded.
