MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL
MEETING OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO
Regular meeting of the Rexburg City Council held September 5, 1973
at 7:30,
Present & presiding Mayor Henry Shirley. Council present Albert
Pieper, Richard L. Davis, Barton Jensen, Ruth Smith, Glenn Peterson,
and Warren Porter.
Others present ,City Attorney Mary Smith, City Clerk Beulah Johnson,
Mike Green and Roger Porter newspaper reporters. .
Minutes of August 15, 1973, were read motioned by Davis, seconded
that they be passed as read.

ZE: DISCUSSION ON PAYING FOR PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS FOR FIREMAN
Discussion on paying for physical examinations for regular and
volunteer fireman. Pieper motioned that we pay for volunteer
physicals .only with regular fireman paying for their own.
Seconded by Smith.

ZE: BLOCK INC. REMOVING TREES ON THE SIDEWALK
Discussion on Block Inc,. removing the trees on the sidewalk on
main street, which they .have ask permission to do. Tabled until
City can see what they propose. in landscaping for the new store.

Discussion on outdoor dances. .Smith moved that the Mayor write a letter

RE: APPLICATION FOR RECREATION OR ADMINISTRATIVE JOB
Mayor read a letter of application he had received recently from
Billy Seale for recreation or administrative job. Tabled
E :• FIRE ORDINANCE REVIEWED
Fire Ordinance was reviewed and sent back to planning board for
further study.
R DEAN RICKS ASKS FOR H1S PROPERTY TO BE ANNEXED, POSSIBLE ANNEXING RANDALL
PROPERTY
Dean Ricks met with Council and ask that his property West of 5th West
be annexed to City as zone 2, as it had been platted and accepted
iby City and County. The property to the south belongs to Jack
Randall was also discussed as possible annexing at same time.
Motioned by Jensen that this be annexed R 2, seconded by Davis.
Unanimously carried. Jensen was to follow through on Randall
properties annexation.
RE: INSTALLING SEWER FOR RICKS AND RANDALL ADDITION DISCUSSED
Installing sewer for above area into our system for Ricks and Randall
addition was discussed. If the sewer installation as proposed by
Dean Ricks for that area meets with the approval of the City Engineer
and Water superentendent and be installed properly and with full
approval, at no expense to the City, which would include the electrical
hook up and it is inspected by the City final approval given, the
City will then assume the expense of operation and maintenance.

RE .PROPOSED TRAILER ORDINANCE DISCUSSED

Proposed trailer ordinance was discussed and turned back to planning
board for further study.
ZE: GOLF COURSE ASKS FOR MONEY
Evan Meyers from Rexburg Galf Association met with Council, explaining
expenditures for year and budget for 1974, asking for $1000 for
1973 to complete bills payable this year. Smith motioned that $1000
be given to the association. Seconded by Jensen.

~E: DISCUSSION ON NEW SHOP BUILDING
Discussion on new shop building with Mayor Shirley 8 Pieper to follow
through with plans.
BIDS TO BE GOTTEN FOR ROOF FOR MERRY-GO-ROUND
~` Smith is to get bids on new roof for Merry-go-round before painting
nd rejuvenating commence.
~E: HRISTMAS DECORATIONS
Christmas decorations were displayed and discussed for holiday
time. Twinkle lights seemed favorable choice however getting power
to these presented a problem. Tabled.

Bills in amount of $34,549.56. Motioned by Jensen same be paid.
Seconded by Peterson.
