MEETING OF T11Ew G~l ~IY OF REXE3URG, I IJAN~?
Regular City Council of Rexburg convened at City Hall February ~'I,
1973.
Present & Presiding Mayor Henry Shirley. Council present Ruth Smith,
Albert Pieper, Richard L. Davis, Warren Porter, Glenn Peterson &
Burton Jensen.
Others present were Mary Smith, City Attorney, and Beulah Johnson,
City Clerk & Treasurer.
;E: RICKS COLLEGE ASKS FOR ASSISTANCE 1N PROMOTING BROTHERHOOD WEEK
A delegation from Ricks College sophmore class, spokesman being
Perry Rush, asked the Council assistance in its attempt to promote
Brotherhood Week in Rexburg, March II thru l8. Money raised would be
sent to L. D. S. mission President in Mexico to set up a revolving
fund, to help young people in that area to continue their education.
Councilman Davis offered clean up work at the College building which
he now has under contract. Weather permitting the City may have projects
for Brotherhood Week, Mayor Shirley stated.
;E; HARVEY SUMMERS REQUESTS STUDY & ANSWERS ON AMMENDING BEER ORDINANCE
Harvey Summers owner of Beer Parlor on North Highway requested a.
study and answers be made on ammending the beer Ordinance on
closing time to correlate with State law clasing time at I:00 A. M.
Our law is 12:00 Midnight. Shirley stated a study wouid be made as
it merits consideration.

SOUTH OF 7th SOUTH
Tom Williams and Vern Anderson met with the Council, asking to have
the City annex & zone land East of U. S. i91 and South of 7th South.
A public hearing was set and the outcome of such will dertermine
the approval of such from the Council.
ZE: PARK VIEW ADDITION PLAT APPROVED
Jensen motioned that Park View Additon revised plat be approved and
signed, seconded by Peiper. All Aye
iE: DISCUSSION ON REXBURG HEfGHTS
Discussion on Rexburg Heights, Manwaring project and new shake
houses as new buildings in the future.
~E: ADOPTION OF NATIONAL FIRE CODE GIVEN TO GLENN PETERSON TO STUDY
Adoption of national fire code was given to Glenn Peterson for
further study before adoption of what our City needs.
2E: PARTY WALL FOR BLOCK STORE ADJACENT TO PRESENT CITY HALL DENIED
Motioned by Pieper that the request by Rexburg Realty for a party
wall for Block Store, adjacent to present City Hall be denied as
it didn't conform to City Building Code. Seconded by Smith.

PUBLIC HEARIIJG to be held Friday 3/i6/73 at the Utah Power & light
building on zoning. Regarding proposed amendments and changes of
Zoning Ordinance No 478 from R2 to R3 Zone; on said property
described below:
Commencing at the Southwest corner of Lot 7, Block 4 of the 1'arker-
Addition to the City of Rexburg., as per the recorded plat thereof,
and running thence -fast ~i 4~~ t~ee~~'~ thence North 57.75 feet; thence
West 142 feet; thence Saar h 57.75 feet to the place of beginning.

RE: LETTER FROM AID INSURANCE COMPANY

.Rexburg, Idaho 83440
Dear Sir:
We presently have an agreement with the City of Rexburg, Idaho to
furnish afire truck which will be used primarily for the purpose
of fighting and controlling fires on Farm Property and may also be
used for fighting fires in the City of Rexburg.
We now wish to terminatee that agreement and dispose of the fire truck.
In keeping the original objectives for this truck in mind, it is our
wish to transfer title and ownership of the truck to Madison County,
Idaho.
F` We are desirous that Madison County and the City of Rexburg will
continue i-o work together for their mutual benefit in the joint
~; operation of the fire truck.
'_~ In accordance with your ver5al agreement with Merlin Larsen of our
office, the fire truck service agreement between the City of Rexburg
.and Allied Mutual Insurance Co. Is hereby terminated on March I,
1973.
Please sign and returen one copy of this letter as acknowledgement.

Minutes of February 7, 1973, were read by City Attorney. Corrected,
motioned by Davis that they be approved, seconded by Pieper,

RE: LETTER FROM U. S. CENSUS BUREAU READ
A letter from U. S. Census Bureau was read regarding taking 1973
census in Rexburg. Discussed and tabled.

- Bills in the amount of $17,560.26 were read moved by Porter Seconded
by Pieper that same be paid.

R EASEMENT FOR USE OF PROPERTY BACK OF CITY HALL AMMENDED
Easement for use of the property back of the Present City HaII, was
motioned by Jensen that it be ammended by interlineation, seconded
by Davis.

RE: PETERSON D I SPLAYED FLANS FOF~ F IRE HOUSCr
Peterson displayed plans for fire house in two phase program.
Shirley stated eastimated cost to be $50,000, housing for vehicles
in part one of the plans. .Second phase call for demolishing old
station, rebuilding or remodling old station and would be financed
by revenue sharing funds.
RE: BUDGET DISCUSSED
Budget was discussed on planned revenue for 1973.

MEETING OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO
Regular City Council convened March 7, 1973, at the City Hall at
7.30.
Present and presiding Mayor Henry Shirley. Council present Ruth
Smith, Glenn Peterson, Barton Jensen, Richard L. Davis, Warren C.
Porter, and Albert Pieper. Also present was Beulah Johnson City
Clerk & Treasurer, Reportes Rod Clifford & Rick Ripley, Mary Smith
City Attorney.
RE: GOLF COURSE REQUESTS MONEY FOR MOWER
Evan Meyers, Ruby Webster, Mrs. Mel Hansen, and Kent Jolley
representing the Rexburg Municipal Golf Course requested money
for mower to mow the fairway and rough. They stated that they
could purchase one for $2000.OOdown and they need $4000.00 for
remodeling the present club house. After discussion Barton Jensen
moved that $3000.00 be approved for bath projects. Richard Davis
seconded the motion.

RE: DAVID FULLER REQUESTS A LICENSE FOR FIREARMS & POLICE SUPPLE STORE=
County Deputy David Fuller and wife were present and requested a
license to open a firearms and police supply store. Motioned
by Albert Pieper, seconded by Glenn Peterson that a license be issued.

RE: OWNER OF IDAMONT HOTEL ME1 ABOUT RESTRICTING OVERNIGHT PARKING BY HIS
BUSINESS
Owner of Idarnont Hotel Rex Catmull met with the council airing i~i~~
problems with the Ordinance restricting overnight parking by his
business. Tabled until next meeting.
RE: CITY ENGINEER PRESENTED PRELIMINARY PLANS FOR LID
Clayter Forsgren the City's engineer presented preliminary plans for
LID projects this summer. Explaining the new schools cost for
their improvement was $150,000. City obligation $96,000. Total
project at the time $4000,000.00.
