MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL
MEETING OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO
legular City Council held May 3, 1972, at City Halt.
layor Henry Shirley present and presiding.
Council present Smith, Porter, Jensen, Davis, Peterson, with Pieper

Others present City Attorney, Mary Smith, City Clerk Beulah Johnson,
David Bly Rexburg Standard & Journal Reporter.

E: CRAMER BUILDING TO BE TORN DOWN IN ONE WEEK
Moved by Davis, seconded by Peterson that the Council proceed with the
low, qualified bidder to tear down and remove the Cramer building;
pending word from Cramer within one week.
Unanimously Carried
E: BILLS APPROVED
Bills in the arnount of $13,332.67 were read, motioned by Jensen,
seconded by Peterson that they be paid.
Unanimously Carried
E: RRIGATION DEVERSION
rrigation deversion discussed and tabled.
E: VACANT LOTS IN UNKEPT CONDITION DISCUSSED
Various vacant lots in unkept condition were discussed, a solution
to this was tabled for further study.
E: DISCUSSION ON SANITARY LAND FILL
Discussion on sanitary land fill and lack of action from County,
Shirley stated he would take this matter up Monday and report back.
E: BIDS ON I TON.- DUMP TRUCK
Bids on I ton dump truck were opened. Only one bid was turned in
frorn Ford being $4,512.00. Jensen moved that Pieper be allowed to .~
study specifications and award bid if he found suitable. Sec. by Smith.

PLANNING BOARD MINUTES
ayor read planning board minutes. Moved by Pieper that we accept
he planning board minutes.
Unanimously Carried .
E: UNIFORM SIGN ORDINANCE DISCUSSED
Uniform Sign Ordinance discussed. Moved by Smith, seconded by Pieper
that Volume V of uniform building Code (pertaining to signs) be
adopted.
Unanimously Carried
FORSGREiN DISCUSSED PROJECT FOR STREET, SIDEWALKS AND GUTTER WORK
City engineer Clayter Forsgren was present, discussed was the project

for on June 7th., for this work, ~o~t being $60,000.) Motioned by
Pieper seconded by Smith.

2E: PERMISSION GIVEN TO PROCEED WITH PRELIMINARY WORK ON LID #20
Forsgren was given permission to proceed with preliminary work on a
new LID #20, which will include installing sewer lines to the north
area of town and sidewalks southwest of the City. Motioned by Peterson
Seconded by Pieper..

Also the project for updating our water, sanitary and storm sewers.
Motioned by Davis, seconded by Porter that Clayter submit a letter
of intent to the Federai Government for available funds.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL
MEETING OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO
Regular Meeting held in the City Hall May 17, at 7:30 P. M.
Present and presiding Mayor Henry Shirley.
~ Council members present Barton Jensen, Richard Davis, Albert Pieper,
f= Ruth Smith, Warren Porter, and Glenn Peterson.

Others present were City Attorney Mary Oldham, David Bly Rexburg
Standard & Journal Reporter, and Beulah Johnson City Clerk.
Minurtes of April 17 regular meeting were read & corrected. Motioned by
favis, seconded by Smith that they be approved.
Unanimously Carried
~: REMOVAL OF LETTER BOX BETWEEN POST OFFICE & FIREHALL DISCUSSED
Removal of the letter box between the Post Office and the Firehall was
discussed and tabled as the need didn't seem as critical, as the
employees were again parking on the lot South of the City Hall.
€: PROBLEMS CONCERNING ZONING & CONSTRUCTION IN PROFESSIONAL PLAZA
Problems concerning Zoning and Construction in the Professional
Plaza were discussed. It was reported that a sign had been installed
partly on City property with no permit issued. Also the type of
business permissible were defined as Professional. Offices only.

Mayor Shirley reported that the demoliton on the Cramer Property on
South 2nd East had started.
