VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY ~~~` Mayor Shirley read a letter from the Upper Snake River Valley Historical Society, asking the council to attend their annual meeting, April 17, 197.0. BILLS Bills in the amount of $18,800.26 were read. It was moved by Barton Jensen seconded by Ruth Smith, that they be paid, unanimously carried. Meeting adjourned at 12:00 P.M. City Council of The City of Rexburg, Madison County, Idaho, was held on Wednesday April 29, 1970 at the .City Ha11 at 7:30 P.M.. Mayor Henry Shirley present and presiding. Councilmembers present were Wendell Ritchie, Richard L. Davis, Albert Pieper, Ruth Smith, and Barton Jensen. Absent and excused was Glenn Peterson. Also present were City Attorney Mary Smith, City Clerk ~, Treasurer Beulah Johnson and City Engineer Clayter Forsgren. SEWER AGREEMENTS ON LID Sewer agreements on LID were discussed and returned from all councilmembers to the City Clerk for payment to the parties having refunds coming from the recent sewer installations. AIRPORT NEEDING GRAVEL Albert Pieper reported that the Airport needs some gravel from the city, that the county would haul it if the city would donate the gravel. EXTENDING SEWER ON NORTH HIGHWAY There was a discussion on extending the sewer for the area on North High- way „ as per a rec{uest in a recent petition. It was decided that this would delay the all over project on the city improvement program, andmake it to late for the work to be done, also the petition they handed in was several weeks late. There were several other possibilities that could be investigated to help the people of this area extend the sewer in the need- ed areas. BANK OF COMMERCE SIDEWALK It was moved by Barton Jensen, seconded by Richard Davis that the Idaho Bank of Commerce be allowed to build their sidewalk on the west side three feet less than the old original sidewalk. Davis Albert Pieper Ruth Smith Barton Jensen Those voting, NAY None RE: RALPH THOMPSON PROFERTY - PIPE LINE FOR SEWER DRAIN Clayter Forsgren was instructed to investigate the Ralph Thompson property, Block 1, 2 and 3 on Maple Drive to see what size pipe had been installed __.____- ;,,. ~:~ r for storm sewer drain, as this was very vital to the City's drainage, ~~~{~ Mr. Thompson had filled the lot for building purposes. RE: RE: AIR-CONDITIONER FOR CITY HALL Richard Davis was instructed to buy the aircnnditioner from Mountain States Telephone and have Jim Wood and Glenn Cooper give estimates and have it installed at the present City Hall. REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Rexburg, Madison County Idaho, was held Wednesday, May 6, 1970 at City Hall at 7:30 P.M. Mayor Henry Shirley was present and presided. Council members present, Richard L. Davis, Barton Jensen, Albert Pieper, Ruth Smith, and Wendell Ritchie. Glenn Peterson was absent and excused. Also present were City Attorney Mary Smith City Clerk $ Treasurer Beulah Johnson, Mr. Allred from the Rexburg Journal-and Don E11is from KRXK Radio, and City Engineer Clayter Forsgren: RE: STATE HIGHWAY ENGINEERS MET WITH COUNCIL CONCERNING NEW HIGHWAY ROUTE State Highway Department Engineers, Gene Burbridge and Bill Crow presented tentative plans for construction of the Highway 191 through the west part of Rexburg. Two alternate plans were presented and they expressed a desire to implement that which would be of greater service to the community They agreed to furnish maps for city use, and have a final design hearing following the final design stage. Also they discussed the up-coming Main Street project and the starting date., also the possibility of the state participating in the storm sewer costs on main street. RE: TROPHIES FOR THE FAYE HARRIS TWIRLING CONTEST Mayor Shirley ask the councils feelings on buying trophies for the Faye Harris Twirling contest being held in Rexburg in the near future. It was moved by Albert Pieper, seconded by Barton Jensen that the city not par- ticipate, there being. no funds available for anything of this nature, and we were prohibited by law to make donations. Davis Barton Jensen Albert Pieper Ruth Smith Wendell Ritchie `` Those Voting NAY None s MEETING WITH THE WATER RESOURCE BOARD } The Mayor .reported his meeting with the Water Resource Board. He stated they have federal money for studies within the county on water pollution, and it w;as decided to include solid waste disposal in the studies, include-~ ink a county-city land-fill project. Although this was for county study ~ only, ~e felt the results would be of considerable value to the city. RE: MINUTE'; ~r Mint}te~' of Apri15, 570 meeting were read.
