RE: REPORT' ON MINATURE GOLF COURSE t

Ruth Smith reported on the miniture.golf course and the f~.cilities that
C. V, Anderson used for concession stand was for sale. After some discussion
it was decided it would be to .the cities advantage to wa3~t until spring and
make some decision on purchasing these.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL
MEETING OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Rexburg, Madison County,
Idaho, was held on Wednesday, the 18th day of February, 1970, at the City Hall
at 7:30 P.m.
Mayor Henry Shirley was present and presided. The following Councilmen were
present: Richard Davis, Albert Pieper, Barton Jensen and Wendell Ritchie.
Absent and excused: Ruth Smith, Glenn Peterson, and City Clerk, Beulah Johnson
.The Mayor asked Mary Smith, City Attorney who was present, to take the minutes.
Mr, Alred from the Rexburg Standard-Journal Newspapers was also present.

Jack Huber was sworn in as a new City Police Officer,
~E':' REPORT ON CITY PLANNING BOARD MEETING
Wendell Ritchie reported on the City Planning Board meeting. Among other
things, that H. Craig Burrell wanted to place a trailer on some property on
Second North, which was zoned R2. The Planning Board recommended that he be
per~~~itted to do so on a temporary basis, and that the permit must be renewed
every year.
'.E: THE 1970 PROPOSED SEWER AND STREET PROJECTS
The 1970 proposed sewer..~and street projects were discussed. The Mayor called
a special meeting of the'Council with the City Engineer for Wednesday, Feb-
ruary 25, 1970, at 7:30 P.M. to consider these projects in greater detail.

Wendell Ritchie reported that the Police Car was being repaired. The matte r
was discussed. The Mayor reported that a new car had been ordered.
E: NEW TRUCKS FOR THE STREET DEPARTMENT.
Albert Pieper brought up the matter of new trucks for the street department,
It was discussed. Also, he suggested that the Council consider the advisahi
ity of having purchase orders being submitted by city employees. The Mayor
stated that this was being cpn,sidered and some system was being devised.
E: PURCHASE OF MINATURE GOLF COURSE
Mayor Shirley reported that Ruth Smith had received word from Lyle Thompson
that he would sell the City the Minature Golf Course at the City Park for.
$1,000.00, payable over a period of two years. Lt was moved by Barton Jensen
seconded by Richard Davis that the City Purchase the miniture Golf Course
and that the Mayor be authorized to enter into the necessary contract with Mr.
Thompson. The motion carried unanimously,
RE: PURCHASE OF MACHINERY FOR CITY USE

Albert Pieper brought up ahe matter of the purchase of machinery for city
use, and suggested that reports should be made to the committee chairmen.
as to the work accomplished each day by the various departments. The
matter of the purchase of a new mower and small tractor was discussed.
The Mayor suggested the Council should be considering the .purchase of a
garbage packer. Albert Pieper also suggested th~.t the City needed a new
street flusher: The matter of a new pick-up was discussed. Moved by
Barton Jensen ,: seconded by Wendell Ritchie and unanimously carried that
bids be asked for a new street department pickup.
The matter of a-Sanitary Land Fill was discussed.
RE: HARTWELL CONSTRL~£TION
Richard Davis st:~ted he had received a call from Hartwell's business
manager regarding payments on the latest estimates to the City. The matter
was discussed a d the Mayor suggested that the bill be paid. He also sugg-
ested that~Hart 1.•i's h ~e a headquarters in Rexburg as provided in the
contract, as it' ~`s impel ~sible to contact anyone if the need arose.
RE,: ~ TRAVEL AND EXPENSE` PPLICATION
Barton Jensen presented a travel and expense application form. The matter
was discussed and will be considered again.-
RE: BILLS
Barton Jensen presented bills in the amount of $75,139.11 and moved that
they be allowed and paid. Seconded by Richard Davis and unanimously
carried.
RE: AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND R. WILLIS WALKER
Barton Jensen moved that the Mayor be authorized to sign the agreement
between the City and R, Willis Walker regarding the change of the city
canal through Mr. Walker's farm, and that the city's share of the cost in
the amount of $900 be paid. Seconded by Albert Pieper and unanimously
carried.

The ayor reported that he had received a letter from the Army Engineers
pertaining to the Teton River Flood Control Project which the city had
sponsored, stating that some trees should be removed. After discussion
the Mayor asked Albert Pieper to check into the matter.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried meeting adjourned at 10:45 P.M.

MEETING. OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO
A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Rexburg, Madison
County, Idaho was held on Wednesday, the 25th day of February at 7:30 P.M.
Mayor Henry Shirley was present and presided. The following council
members were present; Albert Pieper, Richard Davis, Ruth Smith, Wendell
Ritchie, Barton Jensen, and Glenn Peterson, also Mary Smith City Attorney,
City Clerk and treasurer, Beulah Johnson, D. LeRoy Armstrong water super-
intendent and Clayter Forsgren City Engineer.

Minutes of January 21,1970 were read. Moved by Ruth Smith, seconded by
Richard Davis that the minutes be corrected and passed. The motion carried.
Minutes of the February 4, 190 meeting were read. Moved by Barton Jensen,
seconded by Albert Pieper that correction be made and minutes be passed.
The motion carried.
