Minutes were read by Chuck Frost, a motion was made by Bob Purrington to approve
the minutes and it was seconded by Chuck Porter. All Aye
Don Packer was at the meeting. He was planning to build a house on the property
on the corner of 3rd South and 4th East adjacent to Linclon Elementary School.
He understood that there is a 25 foot easement between the school and the property
line; There are a couple of houses that are built on the easement. He would
like a variance to build as close to the easement as possible, within 5 or 10
feet. He gave a map to the board (attached). The board told him it would be
okay if he did not build closer than the eaves being 5' from the easement. No
variances would be necessary.
Mike Walker avith the Diet Center had been in the .City Hall to inquire about putting
in Diet Center Computor Center in the house they bought from Dr. Peterson at
221 West 2nd South. The board said since the property is zoned commercial,
there was no problem.
Mike Clements had been in the City Hall to inquire about a storage shed on the
property on the corner of 5th West and Park Street, 511 Park Street. The wondered
if they bought the shed if they could use it to store personal items in it and if
they decided to sell it to a business, if a business could store business related
items in the shed. The board said they could store personal items in the shed
but it could not be used for business storage because it is zoned residential.
Chuck Frost told the board that we need to restructure the Planning ~ Zoning
Commission. It needs to be re-organized. He said he would be happy to serve on
the board, but didn't want to be chairman. Glen Pond said he would review new
members. The board discussed the members and the length of the terms that they
have served. They also discussed prospective new members. Alternating length
of the terms was discussed so there-would always be half of the board members who
had experience.
Glen Pond reported on the Workshop for Planning & Zoning at the AIC Convention.
There is a Planning & Zoning Short Course which is put on by the Idaho Planning
Association. This is available to cities. Glen Pond said he would arrange for
the workshop after we restructure the board in the fall.
