PLANNING BOARD MEETING

I~4inutes of august 17 meeting were read and approved.
DeWayne Wilding read a 1Ptter from President Clark asking if any
changes in plans for the property to the 1-Nest of his home were
made, that he be notified.
DeWayne Wilding suggested we write a letter to P.a1ph Prestwich and
thank him for his service on the planning board. Also to write a
letter to the Civic Club and thank them for the trees and flowers
on I~~Iain street .
The Board requested DeWayne titiTilding to write a letter to F.A.A
approving plans for new improvement at Rexburg Airport.
A petition was read from John P. Smith for a change in zoning for
lot 3 block 26 to commercial to permit him to operate a business of
selling tropical fish and supplies from his residence at 334 lh'est
1st North St. and at a later time he wants to make repairs to an
existing building to the rear of his home and operate his business
from it. Signatures from all adjoining property owners were
secured on petition.
A motion was made by Blair Manwaring to allow limited commercial
in the home. ~e must provide two off street parking spaces in
addition to his o;an requirements and not to allow him to operate
business from 'ouilding in the rear of his home. A vote of the
board was unanimous.

A petition from Dale ~~_____ and other property owners on North
Highway from 3rd North to the Teton River requesting the city
council consider extending sewer line to serve their properties and
that the city pay for costs of intersections.
It was recommended that the city annex this property and provide
for two streets to the East of Highway, approx. 3rd and 4th North.

The county has legal right to insist on and approve a pl~t.

OCTOBER 13, 1971 at 8:00 P.M.
Present: DeWayne Wilding, Blair Manwaring, Wood Miller, Max Brinton,
Lenore Passey, Larry Perkins and Leonard Longhurst.
Minutes of the September 7 meeting were read and approved.
De~iJayne Wilding stated that the letter to the F.A.A. had been written
concerning the Planning .Board approval of the plans for the Rexburg Airport.
A discussion was held regarding the new highway location thru Rexburg.
Max Brinton stated the City Council had written a letter to the Highway
Department asking for a hearing on the highway location.
DeWayne Wilding will contact the City and County Officials to find out
what action has been taken. If necessary, a special meeting of the Board
will be called.
Rexburg Fire Chief Silas Clements discussed fire codes, fire ratings,
etc. A suggestion was made that Max Brinton contact the off-campus housing
association and see what can be done to improve fire fighting equipment,
safeguards, etc.
Mr. Clements suggested that we encourage all residents of Rexburg to
install and use house numbers.

him regarding a half-way house for children of this area with problems. No
conclusions were reached and will be discussed at a later date.
Max Brinton presented a plat of the Starlite Addition concerning a south.
entrance on Aries Street opening on the Park View Addition, Lot #17. The
Starlite Addition plat was approved with the stipulation that Ross Reese secure
a letter from the owners of Park View Addition that Lot $F17 would be left as
a street.
A motion ~,aas made by Larry Perkins and seconded by Blair Manwaring that
no building permits be issued for Starlite Addition until a south access on
Aries Street be provided as Ross Reese previously agreed to do. A vote of
the Board was unanimous.
Max Brinton gave a brief report on building and zoning problems.
