HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&Z MINUTES JUNE 23, 1971CITY OF REXBURG PLANNING BOARD MEETING June 23, 1971 at 7:30 p.m. Present: DeWayne Wilding, Ralph Prestwich, Lenore Passey, Wood Miller, Larry Perkins, Max Brinton, Wendell Ritchie, Bernice Burkett Ralph Prestwich and Wendell Ritchie were excused early due to other commitments. Minutes of the June 9 meeting were read and approved. DeWayne Wilding stated that he and Max Brinton had checked out the Auto Garage~Building and the Don Ricks property and found that everything was in order. DeWayne Wilding mentioned that Tom Matthews said that it would be of help to him if there were fire zones in town. Rexburg has a fire code for the business district but needs fire zones all over the City. Some college housing units are fire hazards. There should be a fire code to match each zone. Mr. Weldon Steiner appeared before the Board concerning his property and land development on the north side of 7th South. He was offered a copy of the city map and zoning laws and was requested to bring a plot plan to the Board. Myron Lewis appeared before the Board and submitted a petition, signed by several people, which opposed the location of the sanitary 1ar_d fill in the northeast area of the City. DeWayne Wilding assured Mr. Lewis that he would present the petition to the City Council and County Commissioners. After Mr. Lewis left, there was-some further discussion regarding the land fill and a vote from the Board was taken as follows: Max Brinton: Opposed the location because this area was recently zoned R2 which does not permit a land fill and also because it is close to a school. Lenore Passey: Opposed to any land fill within the City Limits. Wood Miller:. Opposed to location within City Limits. Larry Perkins: Opposed A letter was drafted by the Board stating their comments on the favorable and unfavorable features of the three proposed highway routes. The letter was mailed Friday, June 23, 1971. Copy of letter is attached. The meeting adjourned at 10:00 p.m. C,
