CITY OF REXBURG
PLANNING BOARD MEETING
May 12, 1971 at 7:30 p.m.
Present: DeWayne Wilding, Lenore Passey, Blair Manwaring, Wood Miller,
Max Brinton, Bernice Burkett
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The plans for Contempo Village were looked at and discussed.
It was suggested that someone is needed to police all new construction. It
was also suggested that the Council have Tom Matthews check with Mansard
Village to see if they have met requirements, especially parking space.
The Board was unable to take action on the Auto Repair Garage Plan due to
incompleteness of the plan. `
It was recommended that a request be made to remove the barn that occupies
the grounds behind the College.
DeWayne Wilding and Max Brinton explained some of the plans which were
discussed at the T'Governorfs Conference on Planning'T held in Boise on
May 10th and 11th, 1971. They stated that the State of Idaho will be
divided into six regions, both population-wise and natural resource-wise,
and that we must get busy and organize our region and get it recognized
in order. to .obtain funds. It was suggested that one centrally-located
detention center could serve several counties.
It was agreed upon that Max Brinton will meet with the County Officials to
ask for their cooperation for the City and County to work together on
zoning problems.
It was .agreed that DeWayne Wilding will contact the Mayor and ask if some
of the Planning Board Members can meet with the Council at their next
meeting in order to obtain permission to have a full-time man appointed
for building inspector.
The next Planning Board Meeting will be held on June 9.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
