Gentlemen:
In a recent discussion with Mr. Berne K. Jensen, District Director
of :Federal Housing Administration of Boise, ?daho, it was learned from
him that d~ae to the past experience of the small percentages of base-
ment homes that have been completed into full sized homes that they are
in the future discredited. The lacation of proposed r_ew homes construct-
ion considerably where the proposed constr~zction is adjacent to or in the
vicinity of extensive basement homes this discredit could amount to as
much as 2Cl~o of the overall cost of the proposed construction when it was
• placed directly against an existing basement home. He also indicated
that they would refuse a commitment entirely to unproposed construction
if built in an area where a number of basement homes exist as they have
found them to be very undesirable in the event as such homes have been
foreclosed and in adapting to make re-sale.
I trust the above information satisfies your questions.
Very traly yours,
