The meeting was called to order by Chairman Clyde Packer at ~ o'clock.
Those members present included: Clyde Backer, Pres. Clarke, Hyse Jacobsen,
Rorie Powell, Dr. Zollinger.
Hyse Jacobsen reported talking with members of the city council and city
attorney concerning proposed zoning ordinance and they assured him some action
wo~.zld be taken. at the next council meeting.
Members of the planning board mentioned that people had spoken to them
concerning violations of the building code such as building too close to property
lines .
Clyde Tacker recommended that it be proposed to the city voters and city
council that three parks (two in front of college and one west of the railroad
tracks) be eliminated. This should be done by means of the newspapers to see
how the people feel about it.
He will ea11 a meeting in the near future with the presidencies of both
stakes, city council representative, planning board members, and bishop of
interested wards to discuss the possibility of securing the whole of block ;~36
for a park.
It was thought that the planning board and city council should make definfte
arrangements to insure that the park will be built and maintained before forward-
ing request to Presiding Bishop Office for transfer of the property.
_ A question came up about returning the ground bordering the highwary just
north of the canal where the old skating rink was to the original owners. It
was decided to secure more details a::pout the matter before making any recommenda-
tions .
Dr. Zollinger said. a letter had been written to the post office department
requesting information on regulations governing sites for federal buildings, and
a reply should be available for next meeting.
