Reg~.z7_ar meeting of the Rexburg City Planning Board held on October 2, 1950 at the •
City Hall. Those present were RGlph A. Parker, H. ~~d. Jacobsen, John L. Clarke,
Richard L. Davis, H. B. Fitzpatrick, Secretary, and John D. Parkinson, a
visitor.
A discussion was held on the driveway for tractors through the east end
of Rexbzarg. It was suggested that a recommendation be made to the City Council
to put a loading ramp east of the properties on the east edge of the City and
ask that all tractors be loaded onto,.a truck or trailer acid transported through
the city to the shops. Also, that they be transported back there and unloaded
onto the -ramp. If the City does not already have an ordinance covering the
driving of cleated tractors on city streets, it was suggested that they pass
such an ordinance and enforce it. I~.the opinion of the Planning Board, this
is the cheapest and most feasible plan to solve the problem of transporting
these tractors. In the opinion of the Planning'Board, any driveway or street
for these vehicles would be far too expensive to build and maintain.
A recommendation was made to the City Councilthat if they have not already
done so that they immediately take steps to file claims on the water wells owned
by the City to preclude the possibility of any p~;rson or persons filing claim
to this water a-head of the City.
David Benton, City Engineer hired to work on the elimination of ditches in
Rexburg, made a report to the Planning Board covering much the same information
as he gave to the City Council at its meeting of September 20. He was asked by •
Planning Board to complete a survey of costs for the City comparing the cost of
irrigating by ditches and canal water as to the cast of using culinary water
through the city mains f®r all of the city's irrigation. Mr. Benton promised
that he would do his best to complete this survey in the near future and bring
it to the Planning Board at its-next meeting. At that time, the complete survey
of the ditch program should be finished.
It was recommended to the City Council that it make cross walks for pedes-
trians across Main Street in the middle of the two long blocks between the Court
house and the Idaho Bank of Commerce and between the High School and Keiths Food
Store. This recommendation was made by. John L. Clarke and seconded by H. W.
Jacobsen. ~ ~;: a .. ~.~ ~ ,

adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
