Tile regu:.a~r meeting of the Rexburg City Planning Board convened at
B:OC p.m. on June 5, 1950. Those present were: Ralph A. Parker, D. fi.
Manwaring, D. G. Taylor, Clyde F. Facxer, Richard Davis, and Ed Covington,
City Councilman.
Minutes of the Planning Board meeting held on May 1, 1950, were read
and approved. The minutes of the last City Council meeting were read and
discussed.
A discussion was held ors the location of the block comers in the
city. Richard Davis e~,plained the method used for measuring aor property
lines.
A discussion was held with regard to the `alley way through Lot 3 of
Black 38 i.n the rear of Taylor Che~srolet and. buildings to the north to
the city alley iri Lot 2 of the same block. Richard Davis reported what
progress he had made in this connection. ISo action was taken.
D. G. Taylor reported his work on securing a planning engineer, ge
stated that he held talked ~*ith a Bentor. employee oi' Idaho Falls; however,
nothing definite:: had beer. decided upon. Mr. Benton will call at same
time noon. D. H. Manwa_~ing and .Richard Davis discussed the pros and cans
of this matter.
Mr. Smeath as a city planner was talked aver and it was suggested that
D. G. Taylor get in touch with him.
Claude Christensen and John Adams were invited to tell their plans
for a muns~cipal golf course to be located on the Rigby faxes north of Rexburg.
A lengthy discussion on the cost of the course, adaptability of the grotmd,
etc. was had. A motion was made by Clyde P. Packer and Seconded by Ed
Covington that the Planning Board go on record as favoring and sponsoring
a golf course. Upon vote this passed unanimously.
A discussion of the traffic in the city was held, and information from
various members and visitors was given concerning people flocking to fires
and blocking roads, etc. An educational program. with regard to traffic was
discussed and the Planning Board recommends that some action be taken to
stop the people. from flocking to fires and that fuller traffic regulations
be made and enforced.
The matter was taken up of the proposed City Park to be located on the
lot on the east end of Main Street; which is owned by the L. D. S. Church..
D. G. Taylor reported:ais work in this connection, and Ed Covington made
his suggestions from the standpoint of the L. D. S. Church attitude on same.
Zt was recommended that the City make a defi.~ite offer to the Church for
this park area. This matter was tabled until further organized action can
be taken.
