Minutes of the meeting of the Res~'ourg Planrbing Board held ors October 3, ! 9~-9,
at 8 b.m. at the Rexburg City gall.
mhose present were: Ralp'z~ Parer, Lowell Barrick, D. H. Manwaring, and
S. B. Fitzpatrick, Secretary. rose absent were: D. L. Dabell, H. W. Jacobson,
and D. u. Taylor. Councilman Brent Sutherland attended as a representative of
the City Council.
'I``ue minujt•es of the previous meeting were read and after correction by
changing the word laws to ordinances, they were approved unanimously.
A discussion on the building Bodes and zoning ordinances was held. It
was still undecided whether or not these ordinances have been passed. The
problem created by the new building 'oeing bui-l.t by Mrs . Luci3.le Howe was
discussed. It was thought that this new building is being placed tea close
to the property line thereby making the alley :behind the building too small.
It was generally decided that the City Council and Richard Davis should be
notified of this and Mr. I?avis could check into this matter to determine
whether or not anything could be done to make the alley wide enough for traffic.
,. g. A~Sanwaring reco~mended that something be dorRe a'cout the parking
situation in front of-the college. It was suggested that the curbing be marked
along the front of the college, also on the ends of the parkings in the middle
of the street, to read "No Parking, Loading Zone Only'', or something similar
and then this "~To Parking" should be enforced. It was painted out that there
is plenty of narking area on the west side of the college on center street, also,
there is a large parking area on the east and at the rear of the college and
that there is absolutely no need for congesting traffic in front of the college.
The traffic problem on College Avenue and Carlson Avenue was discussed. '.
It was not decided whether or not to reco:mnend one-way traffic or to make
parking on one side only. It was generally agreed that the main problem in
all traffic in Rexburg is primarily the problem of enforcementof all existing.
traffic regulations.
There being no further business to come 'oefore the meeting, a motion was
made by D. H. Manwaxing for adjournment and upon vote this was approved unani-
mously.
