HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&Z MINUTES APRIL 15, 1946Meeting of Planning Board April 15th, 8:00 P.M. The regular meeting of the Rexburg Planning and Zoning Board was held at the City hall at 8 PM. Monday April 15th 1946. Chairman D.G. Taylor called the meeting to order and roll call showed the following present: D.G. Taylor D.H. Manwaring Lowell Barrick Lee Browning Asael Lyman D.W. Stowell Alma Klingler Alton Anderson Mayor Joe DeHott Wayne Smart Ralph Parker S.J. Skelton Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved There was some discussion concerning the proposed civic center building. There was a motion by D.H. Manwaring that we as a group and as a community urge Mr. Skelton and the Civic Center Committee to do everything in their power to complete the proposed memorial building. The motion was seconded by Lowell Barrick and passed unanimously by the group. Report by Ralph Barker on Parks and Beautification showed that considerable work had been done by that committee. Their committee recommended the following trees for planting on the city streets. For main street, Center street and the State highway, the Linden tree. For first south, first north, first east and first west, the ash tree. For second North, second south, second east and second west the birch tree. for Third North Third South, third east, and thrid west the maple tree. For fourth north, foruth soutch, fourth east and fourth west the Locusts. The committee is recommending a group of trees that are desirable for ornamental plantings in our community. A complete list of trees and recommendations to be published and help to be given by committee. The committee recommended the dedication of block 36 for a city park and nursery for city street trees. The committee also recommended experimental plantings along the highway south of town. There was a motion by Alma Klingler that the report of Mr. Parker be accepted and the report be publicized that people may know the program. The motion was seconded by D. H. Manwaring and passed unanimously. After a discussion of funds necessary to begin the program, contributions of $10 each were given by: Asael Lyman Wayne Smart D.G. Taylor Ralph Parker Lowell Barrick Lee Browning Mayor DeMott S.J. Skelton Alma Klingler D.W. Stowell G.A. Anderson There was a motion by D. H. Manwaring that in view of the added expense incident to the erection of a new reservoir, that the city water rates be revised and raised approximately 10% that the ten day discount be discontinued and a penalty of like amount be added. The motion was seconded by Lee Browning and passed unanimously. There was a motion by Alma Klingler that if legally possible that the city make an assessment for garbage disposal to all property owners. The motion was seconded by Wayne Smart and passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned.
