CITY COUNCIL WORK MEETING TOUR OF REXBURG 9:00 A.M. Mayor Larsen welcomed the City Council Members to City Hall to plan a tour of the City of Rexburg. All of the City Council Members were in attendance. 9:30 A.M. L.P Property - The tour started off with a visit to the Louisiana Pacific nd property on 2North. The L.P. Property is included in an Urban Renewal plan to develop the area. Mayor Larsen gave an update to the proposal by the Urban Renewal Board concerning a long term financing plan for the area. The Urban Renewal Board, representatives from an engineering firm “JRW and Associates” and some members of the Riverside Park Recommending Committee will take a tour of recreational facilities in Utah. A company called “Aquatic Design” will host the tour. Mayor Larsen gave an update on the plans for a new nine hole golf course at the Teton Lakes Golf Course. The Golf Board is seeking bids and a contract is being finalized with the county which will commit the county and the city to equal funding. It is anticipated that the golf revenues will pay off the loans that will be secured for the building of the additional nine holes. Museum – The tour did not visit the Teton Flood Museum. Airport – The City Council looked at the new parking lot at the Legacy Flight Museum, and they discussed the need to take care of the weeds along airport road. 1 th Temple and 7 South – The City Council discussed a number of new subdivisions that are applying for plats in the area and the need to remain consistent to city standards for roads. University Blvd – The City Council looked at the progress on the project. New Annexations and Impact area - The City Council discussed extending the Rexburg Impact Area to proactively plan for future growth. They had a discussion on the importance of developing roads to city standards as new annexations are processed. 11:45 A.M. Porter Park for Lunch – The City Council met with Parks employees and managers. Greg and Jack were told Porter Park looks great! The City Council looked at the carousel and the splash park while they were visiting Porter Park. 12:30 A.M. Wrap up - All Council Members were pleased with the discussion and drive around; it gave them an opportunity to talk about long term planning with Mayor Larsen.
