HomeMy WebLinkAboutFarmers Market Temp Relocation Request - Porter Park Deborah Lovejoy From: Rexburg Farmers Market <rexburgfarmersmarket@gmail.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 9, 2026 6:04 PM To: Deborah Lovejoy Cc: Scott Johnson Subject: Porter Park June 26 Follow Up Flag: Follow up Flag Status: Flagged June 9, 2026 Rexburg City Council Members, On behalf of the Rexburg Farmers Market, I respectfully request permission to hold the market at Porter Park on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This request is for a one-time location change. The Madison County Fairgrounds, our normal venue, will be hosting the Whoopee Days Rodeo that weekend. Due to space limitations associated with the rodeo, our vendors will be significantly restricted. As a result, remaining at the fairgrounds would make it difficult for many of ourvendors to participate and would limit the market's ability to serve the community. We believe a temporary move to Porter Park would benefit both events. It would allow the rodeo to fully utilize the fairgrounds while enabling the Farmers Market to continue supporting local farmers, food producers, artisans, and small businesses without creating competition for space or resources. The Rexburg Farmers Market has proudly served the community for manyyears and continues to provide residents and visitors with access to locally grown food, handmade products, and family-friendly community engagement. We anticipate a typical market attendance and would operate during our normal Friday market hours of 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m (not including set up and tear down time). Because Porter Park is a different venue, we would appreciate guidance from the City regarding any requirements associated with this temporary relocation. Specifically, we anticipate needing assistance from the Rexburg Police Department with a temporary street closure to safely accommodate vendors and visitors. We would also appreciate information regarding any permits, fees, or other expenses that may be incurred by the City in connection with this request. This request is limited to Friday, June 26. We understand that the Chamber of Commerce will sponsor Party in the Park on July 3, and we are participating with them on that event; it is not a Farmers Market- sponsored activity. The Rexburg Farmers Market would return to its normal location and operations following June 26 &July 3 events. Should permission be granted, we will work closely with City staff, Parks and Recreation, and the Police Department to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements regarding vendor placement, traffic 1 control, safety, cleanup, and park use. We are committed to leaving the park in excellent condition and minimizing any disruption to the surrounding area. We appreciate your consideration and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this request further. Please let us know what information or documentation may be needed to assist in your review. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Jamie Ashcraft Market Manager Rexburg Farmers Market z
