We look forward to working on this project together to continue making Rexburg the safest city in Idaho. After reading through public comments and feedback, we’ve built a new proposal around your concerns and our values. We hope you’ll take a look at our new website to learn more! Image Suggestion: Survey-related imagery with copy about the new proposal and the new website Survey and Property Tax Concerns During our January survey, we heard that our community’s primary concern is budget-related. That’s why we’ve created a page dedicated to how your property taxes support the City, County, and School systems. Knowing where your money goes keeps us all better informed. Image Suggestion: Graphic with home and community images/symbols Release tax impact calculator/table Week 3: Mar 10 – Mar 16 Facility and Neighborhood Needs (5) and Approach: rebuild vs. renovation (1) 2 Social media posts Facility Needs Our community is growing, and we are too! We’re in a rough spot; like a kid that needs a bigger bed, we’re outgrowing our space. The current station does not meet modern operational needs for space, technology, secure evidence handling, or private/confidential interactions with the public. We want to prioritize keeping our community safe, but we need some more space to do it. That’s why we’re proposing a bond for a new facility. Learn more about it at our website: Image Suggestion: Graphic about growth and current facility; maybe using an image of the current facility interior or exterior. Rebuilding the Facility During our survey in January, we heard many suggestions about refurbishing or rebuilding our police facility. The City evaluated options and we have a comparison of alternatives to share with you. We examined feasibility, costs, and long-term adequacy; we invite you to take a look at the chart on our website and tell us what you think. Image Suggestion: Graphic with image of current facility Week 4: Mar 17 – Mar 23 Future Preparedness (4) and Cost & Tax Impact (3) 2 social media posts Planning for Growth We want to be ready for anything, and a new building will help us stay ready for many years to come. A police facility is a long-term asset. The new bond proposal is designed to meet current needs and prepare for future growth, instead of doing the same short-term fixes that cost you money and cost us time. Image Suggestion: Image of City of Rexburg, or images with families Cost & Tax Impact Our new proposed bond is a general obligation bond, which will be repaid through property taxes over time. We’re providing clear, practical examples of estimated annual impact by home value; no surprises here. We want to give you all the facts, because we want our community to be on the same page. Image Suggestion: Graphic with plain background and Cost and Tax Impact listed per $100,000 Week 5: Mar 24 – Mar 30 Voting (6) + Transparency (2) 2 social media posts Voting Information Every vote matters; participation is how residents shape City decisions. Image Suggestion: Graphic with voting boxes and election date Transparency Want to learn more about how the Rexburg Police is planning their new facility project? The City will post updates, FAQs, and key documents in one easy-to-find location on our website. Image Suggestion: Graphic with website image Week 6: Mar 31 – Apr 6 1 (We changed the plan) + 4 (operational reality) 2 social media posts “We listened” Rexburg residents raised clear concerns about affordability, scope, and trust. The City listened and made changes by reducing the project scope and lowering the estimated property tax impact so voters can consider a proposal that better reflects community priorities. Learn more about the new proposal at the website: Image Suggestion: Graphic with website information Operational Reality The current facility creates real constraints for modern policing: confidential interactions with the public and victims, secure evidence handling, and day-to-day operations abilities are strained due to a lack of usable space.
