I realize my ignorance of the issue has cost me in more ways than one. I lived in the same home for 31 years and never had any dealings with LIDS or anything else like it. I moved to Rexburg and bought this home 6 years ago with plans for retirement. Cute little house on the outskirts of town. In a quiet/safe city. Soon to be in the middle of town. Putting down a large portion of the proceeds from the sale of my other home to make it affordable on a fixed income. I will now do my due diligence on any future home purchases. I don't see how that letter could've been sent out with those of us living here in your(cities) best interest? I am writing out of concern over the LID 55, that is proposed and will affect me financially. As of now the LID's currently on my property taxes is$198.03 with the additional estimated monthly cost of$305.95. Puts me at$322.45 a month on LID's. That to me is not feasible. Me being the lucky one on the corner of 7th and 12th will no doubt get hit with another LID when it is decided that a sidewalk needs to go on 12th street. And interest is to be charged? When I learned of the proposed project across the street, I had decided this was a place I no longer wanted to call home. Having a townhome/apartment complex directly across from my backyard is a big invasion of privacy. Commercial buildings sandwiching a neighborhood is way too much traffic for this area. Then a couple weeks later I get a letter about this LID. Making my property either unsaleable, adding"estimated costs" of$22,435.89 to the sale price or taking that loss.We all know how estimates in construction go, up. The sidewalk that was done a few years ago is a total joke, I do not understand why the contractor was not held accountable? I nor anyone in my household uses these sidewalks. It is 98%the residents of the Meadows townhomes that utilize them, why are the owners of that complex not being asked to pay for it?And why is the issue of one outlet to all those homes not being addressed? I believe as do my neighbors that is a real safety issue. If a fire were to happen a lot of lives would be in danger or lost. It just keeps being said that was a county decision. Well the city annexed it, so it is a city issue now. And it needs to be dealt with. do realize growth is inevitable, but all that is wanted to be put here, by the schools and on 12th street is disproportionate to what is already here.Way too much. Like a whole other city put in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. It is my hopes that this will be reconsidered with the residents in mind and not the dollar. We are Rexburg. Not who you are trying to attract. Please let me know this letter was received, thank you for your time. 1 Respectfully, Michael& Desiree Diaz 691 S 12th W Rexburg 2
