RESOLUTION NO. 2006 -12
Rules Governing Fees for Electrical Inspections
Division of Building Safety- The City of Rexburg, (Idaho)
Effective Date: September 1, 2006
WHEREAS, the State of Idaho, hereafter called the STATE, allows incorporated
cities and villages by ordinance or building code to prescribe the manner in which wires or
equipment to convey current and apparatus to be operated by such current shall be installed;
and
WHEREAS, the STATE requires said cities and villages to prescribe to the
minimum standards and provisions provided in the National Electrical Code; and
WHEREAS, the STATE administrator of the division of building safety may
make electrical inspections within any city upon written request from the mayor or manager
of such city; and
WHEREAS, such STATE inspections shall be made in accordance with the local
ordinance or building code as provided in section 54-1001C; and
WHEREAS, such STATE inspection service by the STATE inspector shall be
furnished at cost, such cost to be paid monthly to the administrator by the city requesting
inspection service; and
WHEREAS, said cities and villages must provide electrical inspections for the
installation of wires or equipment to convey current and apparatus to be operated by such
current if STATE inspections are not requested;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Rexburg, Madison
County, Idaho; the following electrical inspection guidelines and fees are hereby adopted in
conjunction with Rexburg's associated building code:
Fees for Electrical Inspections. Electrical inspection fees axe to cover the cost of
electrical inspection as provided by 54-1005, Idaho Code; any person, partnership, company,
firm, association, or corporation making an electrical installation coming under the
provisions of Section 54-1001, Idaho Code, shall pay to the Department of Building Safety,
an inspection fee as provided in the following schedule.
Temporary Construction Services. (If this is not the main service or if it is going to
change locations, size, or reconnecting and disconnecting from the power supplier). To be
installed for construction purposes only, for a period not to exceed one (1) year:
Two hundred (200) amps or less, one (1) location: forty dollars ($40).
All others shall be calculated using Industrial and Commercial section.
New Residential- Single Family Dw~ (Includes everything contained within the
residential structure and attached garage wired at the same time. Also it includes the
temporary/permanent service if the service won't change whatsoever, ex. location, size, or
(disconnect and reconnect with the power supplier).
Up to 200 amp service $160*
201 to 400 amp service $250*
Over 400 amp service Use commercial and industrial section for fee
schedule.
*Fee is to include maximum of three (3) inspections. Additional inspections charged at
requested electrical inspection rate of forty dollars ($40) per hour. The fees are reflected of
the state as they are including the temporary inspection cost with the regular dwelling cost.
Other Residential Structures (unattached): See other installations including Industrial
and commercial
New Residential- Multi-Family Dw~llines: Duplex Apartment $210: Three (3) or
more multi-family units; $120 per Building plus $60 per unit.
Existing_Residential: forty dollars.($40) plus ten dollars ($10) for each additional
branch circuit.
Residential Spas, hot tubs, hydro massage tubs, swimming pools: forty dollars ($40)
basic fee plus forty dollars ($40) grounding grid where applicable. Other than residential, use
industrial and commercial installations.
Residential Electric Space Heating and/or Air Conditioning, When not part of a new
residential construction permit, and no additional wiring: forty dollars ($40).
Domestic water pumps. See pumps (water, domestic water, irrigation, sewage.
Mobile/Manufactured Homes. Fifty dollars ($50) basic fee plus ten dollars ($10) for
each additional circuit.
Mobile home and RV parks for distribution wiring including pedestal, service
conductors and lot supply for individual units come under industrial and commercial.
Other Installations Includin,~Industrial and Commercial.
Wiring cost not exceeding two thousand dollars ($2,000): forty dollars ($40) plus two
and one half percent (2.5%) of total wiring cost.
Wiring cost over two thousand dollars ($2,000) but not exceeding ten thousand
dollars ($10,000): one hundred dollars ($100) plus one percent (1%) of total wiring cost.

Wiring cost over ten thousand dollars ($10,000): one hundred eighty dollars ($180)
plus one-half of one percent (.5%) of the portion of wiring cost exceeding ten thousand
dollars ($10,000).
All fees calculated under this schedule must be calculated on the total wiring cost of
the job, and this figure must be shown on the permit. The inspection fees listed in this
section shall apply to any and all electrical installations not specifically mentioned elsewhere.
The wiring cost shall be the cost to the owner of all labor charges and all wiring materials
and equipment installed as part of the wiring system. When labor is performed by the owner,
such labor cost shall be based upon the market value of said labor and used- or reused
materials shall be based at fifty percent (50%) of the column 3 pricing as published by Trade
Service Publication or National Price Service Pricing or the actual cost, whichever is greater.
For all owner-supplied, factory assembled equipment to be installed, the inspection shall be
based on one-half of one percent (.5%) of total cost of the equipment OR an hourly rate of
eighty dollars ($80) for the first hour of each inspection and forty dollars ($40) for each
subsequent hour.
Pum s. (Water, Domestic water, Irrigation, Sewage) -Each Motor.
To 25 HP: $40
26 to 200 HP $60
Over 200 HP $80
Phase inverters and roto phase equipment in addition to the pump motor fee.
Electrically-Driven Irrigation Machine. Center Pivot: fifty dollars ($50) plus ten
dollars ($10) per tower or drive motor. Other types: fifty dollars ($50) plus ten dollars ($10)
per motor. (Note: no additional fee required fox underground feeder}.
Electric Signs and Outline Lighting. Electric signs: forty dollars ($40) per sign;
Outline lighting: forty dollars ($40) per each occupancy.
Requested Inspections. Forty dollars ($40) minimum for one hour (1) or less. Over
one (1) hour: forty dollars ($40) plus twenty dollars ($20) for each one-half (1 /2) hour or
portion thereof in excess of one (1) hour, including travel time.
Additional Fees and Re-Inspection Fees. A fee of forty dollars ($40) per hour and
twenty dollars ($20) for each additional one-half (1 /2) hour shall also be paid before
approval of the installation if the following services are necessary:
Trips to inspect when the submitter of the permit had given notice to the inspector
that the work is ready for inspection when it was not, or if the submitter has not clearly
given the location of the installation either by directions or maps, or if the inspector cannot
gain access to make the inspection.
Trips to inspect corrections required by the inspector as a result of the submitter
improperly responding to a corrective notice.

Each trip necessary to remove a red tag from a jobsite.
When corrections have not been made in the prescribed time, unless an extension
has been requested and granted.
No,Permit--- Failure to most or send permit and required fee in the prescribed time
will, at the discretion of the division, result in the assessment of a double fee.
Plan Checking fee. Forty dollars ($40) minimum for one hour (1) or less. Over one
hour: forty dollars ($40) plus twenty dollars ($20) for each one-half (1 /2) hour or portion
thereof in excess of one (1) hour.
Fees for Temporary Amusement/Industry Electrical Inspections. Each time a ride,
concession or generator is set up: forty dollars ($40) base fee plus ten dollars ($10) for each
ride, concession or generator.
Expiration of Permits. Every permit issued by the City of Rexburg, Department of
Building Safety, shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the work authorized
by such permit is not commenced within ninety (90) days from the date of issuance of such
permit or if the work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after
work is commenced for a period of one hundred eighty (180) days. A permit may be
renewed for an additional year upon receipt of Department of Building Safety approval and
forty dollars ($40) renewal fee.
ADOPTED by the City Council and approved by the Mayor.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TO ADOPT FEES IN SUPPORT OF CITY OF REXBURG ELECTRICAL INSPECTIONS;
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Public Hearing will be held November 15, 2006 at 7:30 p.m.
before the Rexburg City Council of the City of Rexburg, Idaho, to adopt Fees associated with the
implementation of the Electrical Inspection Fees for the City of Rexburg.
The location of the Public Hearing will be at the City of Rexburg, City Hall, 12 N Center Street, Rexburg,
Idaho. A copy of all documents is available for review upon request at City Hall. Any member of the
public has the right to appear at the public hearing and present evidence regarding the proposed
adoption of new City Electrical Fees.
Fees for Electrical Inspections. Electrical inspection fees are to cover the cost of electrical
inspection as provided by 541005, Idaho Code; any person, partnership, company, firm,
association, or corporation making an electrical installation coming under the provisions of Section
541001, Idaho Code, shall pay to the Department of Building Safety, an inspection fee as provided
in the following schedule.
