HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 96.01- Funds, Economic Development Grant'' City of Rexburg, Idaho RESOLUTION: 96.1 Authorizing Resolution "A Resolution to Submit an Application for an Economic Development Grant to Assist in the Establishment of the Youth & Family Renewal Center Project by Purchasing the Land and Building Located at 299 East 4th North, Rexburg, Idaho." WHEREAS, the City Council desires to facilitate economic development and the creation of jobs for residents of the city and the surrounding area; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to provide a building for the Youth & Family Renewal Center (YFRC), which will establish a juvenile treatment facility for alcohol, chemical, and behavioral treatment; and WHEREAS, the Ciry of Rexburg shall enter into a subgrantee agreement with East-Central Idaho Planning and Development Association, Inc.; and together they shall enter into an agreement with the Idaho Department of Commerce to provide the needed capital to purchase the land and building; and WHEREAS, the Ciry and ECIPDA shall jointly submit an Economic Development Grant Application to the Idaho Department of Commerce for a grant of up to $500,000 to assist in the purchase of the facilities for the YFRC, and ECIPDA shall apply for up to $200,000 in a direct loan from the Rural Economic & Community Development Service (formerly known as Farmers Home Administration) to purchase said facilities; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED THAT: The Ciry Council of the City of Rexburg hereby authorizes its commitment, pending the receipt of grant funds, for the purchase of the land and building, and also authorizes the submission of the Economic Development Block Grant Application to the Idaho Department of Commerce for the purchase of the property at 299 East 4th North. The City Council also authorizes Nile L. Boyle, Mayor of Rexburg, to sign and execute the Application and all related documents. RESOLVED this 7th day of Februarv , 1996.
