Hello,
My name is Ben Anderson, and I live at 1174 N Yellowstone Hwy. I'm writing to provide public comment in
support of the zone change being requested.
I have a young family, and I understand firsthand how important attainable housing is, especially for
people who are trying to build a life in Rexburg while balancing school, work, and family. When I was
going to school, I was able to live in a townhouse development, and that kind of housing made it possible
for me to stay in the community and make progress. Rexburg needs more opportunities like that today.
In my view, Rexburg is desperate for more affordable housing options closer to the heart of town and
campus. It would be good for the city find and promote more pockets of potential development closer to
where people already need to be - near schools, jobs, services, and the university.
I'm also concerned about the long-term impacts of growth being pushed primarily to the north end of town.
If most future housing growth happens north of Rexburg, it will continue to overburden 2nd East and
concentrate traffic in a way that makes everyday life harder for residents. Encouraging additional housing
options in and near the center of town helps distribute growth more responsibly and can reduce
unnecessary vehicle trips.
For these reasons, I support the requested zone change and encourage you to approve it. Thank you for
