My name is Carissa Stewart. I reside with my husband and children at 297 Rebecca Drive in the Henderson subdivision in Rexburg. I am writing to kindly oppose the rezoning of the large multi-lot property in our neighborhood (204 S 5th W)to a higher density. I am concerned about the higher amount of traffic a higher density zoning could cause in our neighborhood. Many children walk and ride bikes to and from school and I think this would become more dangerous with more traffic. Most school mornings, there is often a long line of cars at the intersection of Henderson and 5th E. waiting for traffic to subside to be able to turn left to take our children to school near the 8:00 AM hour. After school I have been stuck twice on 5th W. in a long line of non-moving traffic as I've tried with many others to enter the Kennedy elementary school parking lot. Since the construction of the Providence Square apartments, traffic on 5th E. has increased and made travel slower and more congested. I think adding more multi-family homes would be problematic. I understand that there is a need for multi-family housing and I love that Rexburg and BYU-I are growing. It's wonderful! I believe there will be newly-hired faculty with families who will want to purchase single family housing in our neighborhood. Please consider my request to oppose the rezoning.Thank you for all the good things you're doing. Sincerely, Carissa Stewart Sent from my iPhone i
