Zone change
Commission members, my name is Joshua Duffin, and I am a resident of Rigby, living at 170 North 3950
East. I commute daily to my job in Rexburg, and I am here today to speak in strong support of case#25-
01308 &case#25-01318, the applicant's request for a zone change to allow increased density for this
infill development project.
As someone who lives in Rigby and faces the challenges commutes, I believe this project is amuch-
needed step toward creating more affordable housing options in our community. The current housing
market makes it difficult for working individuals like me to find suitable and cost-effective places to live
closer to employment hubs. Approving this zone change would help address that by enabling denser,
more efficient infill development that could provide homes within reach for families and commuters thus
decreasing the burden of the commute traffic on infrastructure while benefitting people in my situation.
Additionally, the project's location is ideal. It's within walking distance to several key amenities. This
would allow residents to walk or bike rather than rely on driving for everyday needs, reducing traffic
congestion, and promoting a healthier, more connected community. In a region where many of us spend
too much time on the road, developments like this encourage sustainable living and make our towns
more livable.
I urge you to approve this zone change to support smart growth, affordability, and environmental benefits
for Rexburg and the surrounding area. Thank you for your time and consideration.
