I did speak with Ryan and he shared the email below with me, which addresses the issue (note that both sides of the stud wall are load bearing). The solution does require rework, the rework associated with the plumbing is relatively minor and appears to be a reasonable solution. The other required rework is to bring the wall framing into compliance with the Contract Documents, this is the majority of the work and is unrelated to the plumbing issue, meaning either way this work needs to be performed. Plumbing Rework Add two studs at each penetrated stud for a total of 3 studs, and replace the shoe with one that is designed for 3 studs. Framing Correction (summarized) Ground -level interior bearing walls: 2x4 studs at 8" on -center (o.c.) or two 2x4 studs at 16" o.c. Second -floor interior bearing walls: 2x4 studs at 12" o.c. (minimum). Upper -level interior bearing walls: 2x4 studs at 16" o.c. As Micah stated, the revised wall framing is due to the request to use floor trusses rather than the original joists. This revised framing allowed for longer spans but also increased the load that is being placed on these walls. This is the reason additional measures need to occur at locations the plumbing penetrates the studs. I am not seeing any other viable solutions, and recommend proceeding with Micah's recommendations. If you would prefer, we can wait for Kevin to return and see if he can develop an alternate solution. But that is a "role of the dice" as he may not and it would cost additional time. Micah / Kevin, if I miss understand or miss represented your intent, please let me know and feel free to weigh in.
