I think the city is making a big mistake if they go through and reclassify the rotary park as low density residential. 1.That park is used a lot in the neighborhood during the summer 2.The city and the mayor are always talking about developing more parks and outdoor areas for families to enjoy. I don't understand then why they would want to take away small neighborhood parks that are already established. 3. If the park was to be kept up and repairs to the playground equipment the park would be used more. 4. By taking away the park, there is not one close for the neighborhood without the kids having to cross a busy road. Having parks in small neighborhoods make is safer for the children. That is a small area to put one or two houses in and doesn't seem like the best use of the property. 5.The people in our neighborhood should have been consulted and have more say in the matter before a decision was made. Perhaps the neighborhood could have come together and bought the land from the city and kept it as a park. 6. It seems that areas that have more expensive homes are given preferential treatment to neighborhoods with the cheaper homes. The areas that have the cheaper homes have a lot of young families that need things like the park for their children.
