A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE "CITY PROPERTY TAX ALTERNATIVES ACT OF 1992"
AS CURRENTLY PROPOSED BY HOUSE BILL NO. 569 BEFORE THE IDAHO STATE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES REVENUE AND TAXATION COMMITTEE, URGING ALL
STATE LEGISLATORS CAST VOTES IN SUPPORT OF SAID LEGISLATORS CAST VOTES
IN SUPPORT OF SAID LEGISLATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rexburg has long endorsed
legislation that would provide property tax relief to the citizens of
the City of Rexburg and would allow cities in the state of Idaho to
raise revenue, with the consent of the local voters, by methods other
than the property tax, and
WHEREAS, House Bill No. 569 has been introduced in the Idaho
Legislature and is currently before the House Revenue and Taxation
Committee and said House Bill has been designated the "City Property
Tax Alternatives Act of 1992, and
WHEREAS, said House Bill, if enacted, would provide for property tax
relief and would allow for local option taxation through non -property
tax methods.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL ON THE CITY OF
REXBURG, IDAHO:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Rexburg endorses House Bill
NO 569, the "City Property Tax Alternatives Act of 1992," as currently
proposed and before the House of Representative Revenue and Taxation
Committee.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Rexburg urges all state
legislators to cast votes in support of the said House Bill 569.
SECTION 3: That this resolution shall take effect and be in full force
from and after its passage and approval.
