HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 91 - 05 ElectionRESOLUTION NUMBER 91-5A A RESOLUTION DECLARING IT TO BE IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF REXBURG THAT THE CITY ADOPT A JOINT ELECTION REGISTRATION SYSTEM WITH MADISON COUNTY, IDAHO; FURTHER DECLARING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL ELECTS, PURSUANT TO SECTIONS 50-476, IDAHO CODE, TO CONFORM ITS PRACTICES FOR REGISTRATION OF QUALIFIED ELECTORS TO THOSE CONTAINED IN TITLE 34, IDAHO CODE; PROVIDING THAT REGISTRATION FOR GENERAL ELECTIONS SHALL BE SUFFICIENT REGISTRATION FOR ELECTIONS OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, AND VICE VERSA, ALL AS PROVIDED BY SECTION 50-476, IDAHO CODE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO TAKE ALL STEPS AND EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT THE INTENT OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Rexburg, Idaho, hereby finds and declares that it is in the best interests of the citizens and electors of the City of Rexburg that the City adopt a joint registration system with Madison County, Idaho. Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Rexburg, Idaho, hereby elects, pursuant to Section 50-476, Idaho Code, to conform its practices for registration of qualified electors to those contained in Title 34, Idaho Code. Section 3: That from and after the effective date hereof, registration of any person eligible to be an elector of the City of Rexburg for general election purposes shall be sufficient registration for elections of the City of Rexburg, and registration of electors of the City of Rexburg shall be sufficient registration for general elections conducted by Madison County, all as provided by Section 50-476, Idaho Code. Section 4: That the City Clerk be, and is hereby, authorized to take all steps to execute all documents necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution. Section 5: That this resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval. CITY OF REXBURG: July 17, 1991. Nile L.� Boyle, Ma .� ATTEST: -- Z"'Z' Rose Bagley, ity erk RESOLUTION NO. 91-5'8 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING A GENERAL CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 5, 1991, DESIGNATING THE POLLING PLACES, DESIGNATING THE REGISTRAR AND DEPUTY REGISTRARS, AND ORDERING THE CITY CLERK TO GIVE NOTICE OF SUCH ELECTION. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REXBURG, IDAHO, THAT: SECTION 1. The general city election will be held in and for the city of Rexburg, on the 5th day of November, at which time there will be elected three council members to serve for a term of four years and or until the election and qualification of their succeaSOrB. SECTION 2. The following are designated as the polling places for such election: FOR THE SIXTH PRECINCT Rl: Adams School FOR THE SEVENTH PRECINCT R2: Library FOR THE EIGHTH PRECINCT R3., Stone5Town & Country Motors FOR THE NINTH PRECINCT R4: Lincoln School FOR THE TENTH AND FOURTEENTH PRECINCT R5 & R6: Career Beauty Shop SECTION 3. That Beth Reese, County Clerk, is hereby designated as Registrar and the following as Deputy Registrars: Rose Bagley, City Clerk, County Clerk Deputies; Sixth Precinct: Mary Ann Mounts; Seventh IT.0 I' - Precinct: Cindy Bxu:ason; Eight Precinct: Eva Wright; Ninth Precinct. Barbara Jaussi; Tenth Precinct: Joan Brunson; Fourteenth Precinct: Betty Harker. SECTION 4. The Clerk, for and on behalf of the Mayor and Council, shall give public notice of the time and place of holding such general city election by posting such notice in three public places or publishing such notice in at least two issues of the Standard Journal, a newspaper printed and published in the city of Rexburg, Idaho, the first publication of such notice to be made not less than 45 days previous to the date of such city election and the last publication not less than 15 days prior to the election; the notice no published shall state the places of registration and the name of the Registrar and the Deputy Registrars, and the requirements for registration of electors at such city and such other information as may be necessary to give full facts of such election and registration; said notice to contain such information in accordance with the requirements of Section 50-436 of the Idaho Code.
