Motion for a multi-way stop installation at intersection of 1 West and 2 South - Discussion on motion: -Traffic count and traffic delays both warrant multi-way stop - An accident problem does exist - A through street is necessary stnd - Proposal for multi-way stop installation at intersection of 1 West and 2 South stnd - Vote: 4-2 in favor multi-way stop at intersection of 1 West and 2 South - Extra notes: - Parking spaces near intersection should still be removed - be sure to publicize installation of multi-way stop - Discussed possibility of waiting until college gets out, but before sunbirds arrive II. Intersection of Birch and Linden - Received letter from Stephen Mellor dated February 8, 2002, in which he proposed the removal of a speed bump on Birch and the stop sign at the intersection of Birch and Linden. - Discussion on Letter: - Committee sees no reason for removing the stop sign nor the speed bump - Proposal: When resurfacing is done on Birch, the subject should be revisited. - Vote: Unanimous in favor of the proposal III Trouble with college student parking - Received letter from Red Taylor on College Avenue in which he expresses worry about students repeatedly parking in front of his garbage can, making it impossible for the city to pick up his trash - Discussion on letter: - College is currently holding study on parking - possibility of residential parking permits and other parking regulations -Decision: - Notify Mr. Taylor that we are aware of troubles with parking near the college. The committee, the city, and the college are all looking into solutions. IV Update on crosswalk flags - progress has been made - BYU-I Associated Students are willing to help in efforts to place flags at crosswalks near campus th V March 6 City Council would like an overview of what the Committee has planned for near future to be presented at City Council meeting, 7:30 City Hall. th VI Next meeting: March 26, 5:30.
