I did a search on my email for the ordinance and found an email from SHPO CLG Coordinator two years that explains that our commission or committee has to have at least one preservation professional (they would like two but one will work) and that the members need to be members of the public and not City Staff. This link will take you to a pdf of what the standards that the professionals must have in order to qualify as a preservation professional. Archeology and Historic Preservation; Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines (nps.gov)They can be found at the bottom of page 24 and the top of 25. With that in mind here are the changes that we discussed to make to the ordinance and a few tweaks so that we can qualify for the CLG. I typed up the ordinance as it presently states but then placed the new updated wording in red underneath. Section III: 1. The Historic Preservation Commission shall consist of nine (9) members who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. 1.
