1. Underground Plans should include the following information in addition to the
information provided:
a. Underground Flushing: Underground flushing must be witnessed by the local
authority having jurisdiction. (NFPA 13, 10.10.2.1)
b. Underground Hydrostatic Test: Underground hydrostatic test, 200 lbs./2
hours, must be witnessed by the local authority having jurisdiction. (NFPA
13, 24.2.1.5)
c. Testing and Inspection Requirements: Include details about the testing and
inspection requirements for the system, type and frequency of testing, and
qualifications of testing and inspection personnel. (NFPA 13, 25.2)

d. Backflow Prevention: Include details about backflow prevention devices
including type, location, and installation requirements. (NFPA 13, 6.5.4)

Rules, International Fire Code, NFPA Standards or any other applicable criteria.
It is acknowledged that backflow preventer is installed per the demand of the local water purveyor. The State Fire Marshal’s
Office and its personnel does not take any responsibility for the back flow device.
