PURPOSE: Change the Zoning Map for the property to allow for a daycare.

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN: MDR1 – HDR2
CURRENT ZONING: Low-Density Residential 2 (LDR2)
PROPOSED ZONING: Medium-Density Residential 1 (MDR1)
AUTHORITY: §1.03.010 (A) “The Commission shall have the authority to consider and recommend to
the Council ordinances, amendments thereto, and repeal of ordinances affecting zoning,
planning, and building within the City of Rexburg”
Information to consider with this request:
• The property is currently a single-family
residence that contains a nursery school
in the basement. The applicant is
wanting to expand the nursery school to
a home daycare for 6-12 children.
• The property is located East of the
Middle School, between the Middle
School and Hyde Park. The property is
approximately 0.319 acres.
• The surrounding residences are zoned
Low-Density Residential 2 (LDR2)
except for directly to the East, across 5th
West, which is zoned Medium-Density
Residential 1 (MDR1). There is High-
Density Residential 1 (HDR1) to the
North, across 7th S.
• A total of 35 hearing notifications were
mailed to surrounding property owners.
• Staff presents this report to the P&Z
Commission to be considered for
recommendation to City Council for approval.
