My understanding is that he small, currently dead-end road (Sunrise Drive) that runs south of my neighborhood (Crest Haven) would be expanded to at least five lanes and would connect to University Boulevard to the west and to South Millhollow Road to the east. My understanding is that the expected traffic on this road is slotted at potentially 25,000+ cars a day (on a road with virtually no traffic currently). Crest Haven is a small, remotely located neighborhood in which children freely ride bikes and walk to church across Sunrise Drive with their families. Putting a major thoroughfare alongside the neighborhood poses a significant risk to pedestrian traffic, specifically kids and pets. It’s telling that there is little to no direct access from homes to Seventh South (which appears to be of comparable size and levels of traffic to this proposed road); no amount of planning can ensure access from the Crest Haven neighborhood to this thoroughfare will be anything other than a disaster. Additionally, I am concerned about the property values in the neighborhood. Though I am presently a renter, I stand by my neighbors and landlord in recognizing the negative impact on the values of their homes by substantially altering the nature of the neighborhood. Respectfully, I request you to consider scrapping this proposal and seeking alternative routes which can more reasonably accommodate the volume of traffic projected. Sincerely, /s/ Ryan A. Ballard
